No, not for me. In fact, the OT ruins the PT for me. What was told in the PT is not at all how I imagined all these years in my head what the story was before and leading up to Star Wars. Maybe it biased my opinion, but to me, some events just never meshed right between the two sets of movies.

Correct. The unaltered versions are on the second disc as a "bonus feature".

Well, I'm breaking down and getting these... ... ... ...but I won't be happy about it... ;) At least they will be better than my Definitive Edition set since mine's the defective set - and as someone else already mentioned, no more disc changes (my player is at least a double sided...

Well, of course the visuals look better. That was never the point of this thread's topic. The new effects were done with spiffy new computers on maticulously cleaned-up film elements and transferred to video with much newer and better 16x9 telecines. So what? Honestly, if all Lucas did was...

Yet, for me, it's the exact opposite. From how I see it, all the added scenes of "here's Vader actually getting into his shuttle", "here's Vader flying his shuttle to his Destroyer", "here's Vader coming off his shuttle in the hanger bay"... totally ruins the original movie's pacing. It also...

I like that as well. I just might do this. :)

My Definitive set was (and still is) among the early problem-prone sets. I may have already mentioned this some 20 pages back, but at the time I got the set I did not ever find out that there was a bad pressing problem or that there was a way to get replacements back then - no internet for me...

The "Faces" set was the same transfer. But, each movie was available/sold individually.

I say again, if Lucas was really after the money, the original version would have been released on DVD long ago with the SEs as a separate release and we would have seen several releases of each by now on DVD alone. I still think it's plainly obvious that money is not the motivating factor here.

The aggravation is there too for those of us who don't care for the SE's one bit. I've recently tried watching the Ep 4 SE and I dislike it even more. All the changes bother me more now than when I first saw it on the big screen. I just can't watch them at all now. I only pull out the DE...

That was in the Empire of Dreams documentary on the 2004 OT DVD set and shown every once in a while on cable channels like A&E. It was a joke she made during the part about the merchandising of Star Wars.

I'll have to amend my comments to limit the blame squarely on Lucas then, and not include LucasFilm as a whole anymore. But obviously money is not the motivating factor here either, really. If Lucas really wanted more money, he would have released the original versions and the SEs separately...

As I understand it, the soundtrack was originally created as a 4 channel setup - Left/Center/Right/Mono Surround. That is pretty close to a Dolby Stereo setup and why it was easy to port over to Dolby Stereo for 35mm prints. It also happens to work with Dolby Surround Pro-logic which every...

I have all 4x3 TVs in my house. I prefer anamorphic DVDs if only to be prepared for when I do get a 16x9 set. And, beyond that, anamorphic DVDs do better on computer screens no matter what the ratio of the monitor is.

I say we keep up the fight and pressure (especially now that the retail side of this is in on the battle) until these puppies are pressed, boxed, and on the way to retailers. That's when the battle will be over. Until then, a mind may still change.

Mr. Singh's statements in that article leaves me just absolutely flabbergasted. Now I know for sure that LF has no clue whatsoever - about anything. How in the world can they not understand why fans are upset? And then just dismiss it all in the next sentence. If it does all come down...

Star Wars discussion from The Bits...

Basically, it sounds like the latest blurb from LF in that article is this... "We hear ya', but we just don't care" If they thought what they planned for this release would just be "fun" then they just don't get it, and seemingly never will.

That's actually been posted over at DVDFile for quite a few years, well before the DVD's finally came out. Page down to the "S" section, after Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan... http://www.dvdfile.com/software/cut_list/index_2.html Unless the idea that it's "ok" to posting a clip that...
