I agree that he'll be too old by the time it starts filming. I'd think WB would want kids around 10-11 so that by the time Deathly Hallows is ready to go (if it gets there), he won't look like a 20-ish adult.
I’m assuming that if it's based on the 7 HP books, then the “premise” is already known, and that the writers are just pitching how they would bring the tales to life.
As opposed to creating new stories, etc.
I’ll likely watch, more out of curiosity, to see how it compares to the films and the books. Hopefully they won’t add stuff that’s not in the books (like The Hobbit films) just because they have the luxury of more runtime to work with.
Bad storytelling may be a cause? (I understand external factors like Depp’s legal issues don’t help.)

I think, because the Harry Potter discourse hasn't diminished that much since the last film came out in 2011 (with a stage play, the Fantastic Beast films, and theme park lands in Universal Orlando, to name a few), that it's still too soon to adapt the stories again.
