Yep---gee remember when AMC was pretty much the equal of TCM? I remember being so thrilled to have a tape of an uncut and letterboxed version of the film. Home theater technology has certainly improved in 19 years.
But did anyone else notice that while Robert Wise, Julie Andrews, Christopher Plummer, and Ernest Lehmann were mentioned, there was not a word about Rodgers and Hammerstein?
One thing I had never noticed until the blu ray (and I have seen in numerous times in 70mm) was the highly ornate gloves worn by Peggy Wood as the Mother Superior in the early shots of the nuns singing in the abbey. Not sure how that escaped me. I will leave it to others to debate the color...
Not to be picky, but disc 4 is a dvd. Is only the dvd "newly remastered"? Disc 1 is a blu ray and says "Feature Film Remastered in 1080p Hi-Def with 7.1 DTS-HD Sound." I welcome yet another chance to buy another copy of SOM.... I have bought each of the dvd remasters and the blu ray and...
