The AIP dub also has far superior voice acting, done by Peter Fernandez' Titra Studios, if I'm not mistaken. My favorite line: "I wouldn't say nobody has anything to fear from us, but we are going to control you now."

    All Things Godzilla

ADV's DVD of DAM (sorry, couldn't resist) features the original Toho international English dub, which is indeed vastly inferior to the AIP, but, to be fair, I believe the Madman DVD features this same international dub.

The American version has some alternate footage, including more scenes with Tamblyn. I'm not sure exactly what, as I've never seen the Japanese version, and have yet to watch it on this release. Also, it's got Tamblyn doing his own dubbing...yes, he had to dub his English into English because...

    All Things Godzilla

I picked this up, and can confirm that it does indeed contain the same ancient transfer of the English cut of RODAN, with extremely weak sound. Are there no good elements left on this? Luckily, the Japanese version looks and sounds a zillion times better, at least. Very nice to have that. And...

    All Things Godzilla

I read reviews that said it was from the exact same master as the old Vestron VHS & LD, Video Treasures VHS, Paramount LD, and first DVD release (also from Classic Media). In fact, I read that it was even worse than the earlier DVD because the authoring isn't as good, with worse macroblocking...

Um, no, white subtitles with black outlines would be just fine, thank you very much. Like on most of the HK DVDs I have. If Megastar & Universe could come up with perfectly legible subtitles, ANYONE can. (A pity they couldn't come up with listenable 5.1 remixes, however.) Yellow subtitles are...

    All Things Godzilla

The original neg of METROPOLIS doesn't exist either, and had to be cobbled together from many sources originating from all over the globe, but its restoration looks at least twenty times better than the current DVD of GOJIRA. Much more could be done with Toho's elements than has been done. My...

    All Things Godzilla

Sony/Columbia owns MOTHRA, so I doubt Classic Media will be releasing it. But I think they, and not Media Blasters, will be releasing WAR OF THE GARGANTUAS, as well as RODAN, both titles supposedly containing both versions of the films.

    All Things Godzilla

It seems a bit silly to sell the film as INVASION OF ASTRO MONSTER, when neither of the two versions of the film contained in the DVD bear that onscreen title. Nobody in this country knows the film by that title. They should have put MONSTER ZERO on the box. A no-brainer.
