Stefan:
The preamplfier section of the R-965 is identical to the P-965. All parts in the signal path are the same. Only the power supplies are different.
The P-965/A-965 combo will have advantages over the R-965 receiver when driving low impedance loads. Otherwise I think it would be very...
Josh: The P-965 uses Burr Brown DAC's and an AKM A to D's. As I remember, the AVP-9080 used a Cirrus/Crystal codec with the A to D and the DAC's on the same chip. The P-965 does offer automatic format detection. Jeff
Judy: As I also posted on that other site, please call Eugene at Sherwood customer service and give him the details of your problem. Gene can be reached at (800) 962-3203. Jeff
Jeff_Scwz: I think they already have the units in stock at Soundscape in Santa Rosa. ChrisHeflen: Multiple license plates. We have more units arriving in Cerritos next week. Jeff
Chad: Try the Sound Seller, (715) 735-5376. The bass crossover is set globally--one setting applies to all speakers. Crossover choices are 40/60/80/100 or 120 HZ. And finally, yes, should DPL-III or DTS-Neo7 come to market, you can upgrade the operating system to accommodate them. Jeff
Tim:
There's a small rear panel photo here:

We'll be posting a larger photo on the web later this week. In the meantime, if you want the larger rear panel photo, drop me a line at: [email protected] and request it.

Oliver: Warehouse space! All kidding aside, while the P-965 has a huge power supply for a pre/pro including a toroidal transformer, there is a fair amount of empty space. The factory says it will keep the circuits cooler. Although we have a preliminary manual, it's not quite ready for...
Eric A asked: 1) Is the channel level calibration set at 1db increments or is it .5db increments? 2) Are speaker distances set at 1ft increments or .5ft increments? 3) You mentioned 3 channel level memories, do these include separate crossover settings inside as well? Channel levels...
Tim: Please see the above edit of my post regarding the color. We intend to have Titanium, only, for these models. Guess my brain and fingers weren't speaking to one another when I typed "black" earlier. Jeff
At this point, the new models will be available in titanium, only. (edited 1/19/04) Crossover frequencies are global and can be set to 40/60/80/100/120 Hz. 4th order low pass filters. 2nd order high pass. I have no details on the intentions of Sherwood's Australian distributor. Jeff
Your assumptions about the A-965 are correct. It is built along the lines of the AM-9080. Obvious changes include the use of two toroidal power transformers in the A-965 in place of the three conventional transformers in the AM-9080 and our inclusion of a 12-volt turn-on path in the A-965. Jeff
Chris: We met with the factory team yesterday and they've promised US delivery in early February. There are currently no dealers in your area, but we have a new rep in the area and expect the situation will improve quickly. Jeff
Oliver: We no longer perform final assembly in the UK. Virtually all of our Newcastle class products are produced in our facility in Chun Am, South Korea. Jeff
Roger: Good to hear from you. Although one could certainly claim that the notion of "remastering" the recording is nothing more than marketing speak, we use it because we believe the process improves the sound of the original recording. While we certainly can't claim that we improve...
Sven: We are looking at automatic calibration for future products, but we will definitely not have that feature in this round of introductions. As to the upgrades, I understand what you are saying. It's easy for manufacturers to have the intention to allow upgrading. It's certainly harder...
Ed: Yes, the P-965 will have Dolby Pro Logic IIx when it ships in a little over 30 days. It's also field upgradeable, so should our friends at DTS decide to introduce Neo-7 or another new code, our users will be able to add that, too. The upgrade will require a CD that we will supply and a...
Ed: We fully expect to be shipping the P-965 on or before 12/10/03. I do not know the exact cause for the delay from October to December, but in my experience in this industry, 60 days is a mild delay. Now to your technical questions: The rear panel dimensions of the P-965 are 17 3/8"...
