True, but the film does open with Brando putting people in a little shiny album cover. So right away, the film establishes that ideas will be thrown out and liberties will be taken, much like in a comic. :)
I love that those films were just serious enough...that they got the audience to...
This is pretty much true of ANY Superman (or even comic-book) film- not just one in which time is reversed by flying really fast. After all, when your main character is an invincible flying alien in blue tights, that should be a signal to the audience that some things will need to be taken on...
I think it's just a line that slipped through and doesn't hold up to scrutiny. They wanted Krypton to seem like an ancient civilization, but did so at the risk of opening up a plot hole.
They could always just toss the Daily Planet insert, then exchange the 2 SR discs with the old Supergirl discs. Problem solved. Nothing left but Reeve-heavy goodness. :)
But actually I thought Routh was a decent Superman. I hope he returns for a Singer-less sequel.
You could always replace the Returns disc with Supergirl.
[Oh, obviously I'm not suggesting anything negative about SR. I just think it would be better suited to its own boxset with the (surely inevitable) sequels. It's clearly madness to purchase something now when another version will be...
Even though I'd be happy with just the Christopher Reeve collection, I'll definitely be picking up the 14 disc set. A nice box to hide the individual cover art. :)
I'm happy that the Reeve films are getting their own collection, but I really thought they would have better artwork. It's especially surprising since the Donner cut is such a big deal. Why not simply update the original covers? It's not as though that OOP set will still be on any shelves.
