Ahhh, you were referancing my McClane figure lol. Yeah, I knew all of that but like I said I didn't really care when I modified it, I just wanted it to look more bloody and McClane-like.

How do you guys like my lil' McClane? ;) I modified it a bit, I made the cigarette, added and enhanced the blood on his shirt, added the small cut on his eyebrow, added the wound on his shoulder where he was shot by Karl, added the torn shirt on his bloody foot (yeah I know, he used his...

Having watched the film again recently on BD it appears as though the flashes are coming from one of the sub-structures of the roof and not the roof itself, plus they seem to extend across the entire expanse of the roof and there were only two bad guys + John there, not enough people/gunfire to...

Yeah, Argyle just knocked the wind out of him long enough to be picked up by police. I love that scene, the black guy wasn't vicious enough to deserve to die (he was just a glorified locksmith afterall) so getting his lights punched out was a much deserved fate for him.

One more revival, I picked up the series on BD and they rock! The excessive ringing and EE that plagued the DVD's of DHWAV is completely gone! The film is a revalation on BD as it's incredibly great to be able to watch it without all that distracting video noise. I watched LFODH last weekend...

Good to know, thanks. :emoji_thumbsup: I honestly don't know what to make of the Al-sees-the-roof scene, I guess it could be left up to interperatation, myself I believe it was beacons he saw. John paused before he said cigaretts because he thought he heard something. Man I want to buy...
  8. Inspector Hammer!

    The 'DIE HARD' appreciation thread.

The reason I always took them as being beacons was that Al didn't seem put off by them at all, he reacted as if they were an ordinary occurance. Plus like I said they could be seen flashing when McClane first arrived on the roof to call for help and I believe they could also be seen in the far...

^^Are you serious!? Oh man that's awesome lol! I hadn't looked at the specs for the dvd so I didn't know that, I was just wondering where I could download now I don't have to. :)

Had to revive this thread for this...quite possibly the coolest music video i've ever seen in my lifetime lol (I defy you not to hum it for the rest of the day)! (Some explicit lyrics)... And of course one the funniest parodies of all time courtesy of The Ben Stiller Show :D...

This is what I classify as a 'DUH!' moment. Helicopters of course!

Yep, just don't ask me to tell you what the heck they're for lol, I wish we had someone in this thread who lives near the Fox Plaza who could tell us if those lights actually exist on the building and what they're used for.

The flashing lights weren't gunfire they were beacons, they can be seen flashing when John first emerges on the roof before Karl and his men got up there.

    The 'DIE HARD' appreciation thread.

That's a great scene and it was the perfect way to introduce Al, it established his love for Twinkies and that his wife had a bun in the oven. One thing I always wondered about, though, when he walks out to his car do you think that he would be able to hear the gunfire coming the roof at that...

    The 'DIE HARD' appreciation thread.

John had his suspicions about who this person might be right off the bat and his suspicions were confirmed when he noticed that "Bill Clay" simply pulled that name off of the name directory board on the wall. No way was John going to fall for the ruse, he knew better than to hand a loaded gun...

Man of few words, but it's true, one great movie. ;)

I hear ya, i've always found it very cool that my top three all time favorite thrillers all came from the same man, I tell you the dude was unstoppable back then! But like I said in my initial post then came Medicine Man and I couldn't believe that film came from the same guy, he never really...

One part that I never understood was when John first arrives at the building and uses the touch-screen directory to locate Holly, the reception guy tells him AFTER he locates her on the 30th floor..."The party, they're the only one's left in the building." Well if they were the only ones in...
  19. Inspector Hammer!

    The 'DIE HARD' appreciation thread.

Love that lol! It's probably the only time in the entire movie where I understand, and even reluctantly agree, with a bad guy's motivation, if I were him it would be hard for me to resist helping myself to a Reese's cup or two, I know he took a Nestles Crunch but I just can't get enough of...

I've always been stupified by Ebert's review of this film, how can it be that he saw this groundbreaking action film in theaters and was not impressed by it? While I often agree with Ebert there are examples, like this one, where I just don't understand how he thinks at all, he also gave a...

A little love for the Nakatomi building/Fox Plaza ... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fox_Plaza The most striking feature of the building to me is the roof when seen from the ground, it resembles a Butterfly, which is why Richard Edlund named his large model of the roof 'The Butterfly...

Very true, but in this case i'll make an exception, truth is I don't even really like Twinkies that much lol.

I loved Fred Dalton Thompson during his film years, for a time it seemed as if he was in everything from DH2, The Hunt for Red October and even Days of Thunder. I'm laughing at that last one, I can't watch DoT anymore lol.
  24. Inspector Hammer!

    The 'DIE HARD' appreciation thread.

Yep lol, but to me he'll always be Mr. McDowell in Coming to America. ;) My appreciation for Die Hard 2 extends almost as high as my appreciation for the original, it's the sheer scale of DH2 that I love the most, there's action everywhere in that film, on the ground, in the air, on wings of...

    The 'DIE HARD' appreciation thread.

Ah, that sucks. :frowning: I think that this series is underestimating just how strong a bond they formed in the original film, it was Al who helped John keep going and supported him when it seemed like everyone else was ready to lynch him. John's relationship with Holly is one thing...

Ah yes, the great Reggie Veljohnson, i'm throwing a Twinkie in my lunch for tomorrow in honor of him. :emoji_thumbsup: I wonder if he'll make a cameo in LFoDH? We've already gone one sequel without him and that's too long, although it was cool that he hosted the HBO behind the scenes special...

Hell yes, this film used optical compositing to the best that it could be done IMO, nary a matte line can be seen around composited people or objects, I also loved how they worked the watch into the scene. :emoji_thumbsup: I refer to that scene as 'Ellis' revenge' as it was he who gave Holly the...

    The 'DIE HARD' appreciation thread.

Yep, that was the same actor. I just love how Harlin twisted the knife by making it a point to show old ladies and children on the plane, sick bastard lol. Sam Jackson was the single greatest addition to the cast of DHWAV, his everyman attitude and sensibilities perfectly countered McClane's...
