I never said someone getting into DVD in 2000 was an early adopter. I didn't get into it until mid '98, and I consider that early because I didn't know anyone else that had a player, or really even knew much about it at the time. C'mon, how many people were buying HDTV's in 2000 or earlier...

As I said earlier I can't imagine the studios shutting out all the early HDTV adopters, the very people likely to buy into HD-DVD at or near launch. I'm sure there will be some sort of solution made available for those set owners, one which doesn't involve downconverting the 720p/1080i signal...
I can't imagine the studios disenfranchising the millions of pre-2004 HDTV/FP owners by not providing an analog component solution. Somebody will come up with some type of converter/adapter or something I'm sure.
