I don't not, in any way get any implication from the reviews that the battery life is an "achilles heel". That's your own invention. The battery life mentioned in the reviews was actually very good for an Android device for the time. Besides, 10 hours of heavy use is in the same ballpark as the...
Sam, your choice of reviews was poor and misrepresentative. That is beyond dispute. I explained why.
Also, your article says "unclear" in regards to JB. How is this "never"?
And how does Motorola factor into a discussion of the S2? Now you're just grasping at off-topic straws...
I own a GS2 variant, and NO. You're using the review of a specific S2 variant with a 4G antenna as your backup that the S2 has battery problems. I've not heard of this as being a general S2 issue. It's not the Evo 4G.
What are the other "serious limitations" you speak of? The S2 was a well...
Sam, that phone was released in Australia in April. That's... let's see... less than 5 months ago. Well, it's a "year" if you round up.
AFAIK, all US variants of the S2 have ICS. The world version has it as well. Define "many". Like a hundred or something?
Oh, and...
If your use case isn't like Sam's, you're doing it wrong. Some people want walking and bike directions? What a bunch of whiny jerks.Get a car and a clue.

There's not a lot of stuff that hasn't been rehashed already, but this one part caught my eye:
Very. Interesting.
The thing is, if Apple doesn't add some sort of feature to market against, and if everyone is perfectly content with their iPhone, then why would anyone bother upgrading?
Sam seems insistent that the bulk of iPhone users are so content with what they have that they would never move to...
I suspect the marketing this time around will revolve around 8 way Facetime chat. Not that you can't do that today with OoVoo (which is also cross platform), but Apple will act like this will change everything.
I'm actually not sure where we got off track, but I don't even know what your point is about widgets anymore other than that they drain your battery. That's not my point.
Ken, I'll look at the shift key the next time I'm setting up email on an iPhone. It was seriously confusing the hell out of...
The last time I held an iPhone 4s, the keyboard displays the letters in all caps. I hit shift and... It's still in all caps. I was typing in a case sensitive password and was unsure if I was in caps or not. There are still no long press alternate characters, a feature I find essential.
When I...
Open Flipboard and load an article. Open Amazing Alex. Go back to Flipboard. Oops, article is gone. Go back to Alex. Oops, back at the load screen. I kind of need that.
Well Sam, aside from calling everyone who goes to Android an app pirate, there's also this:
http://www.hometheaterforum.com/t/321161/ok-i-jailbroke-what-now#post_3932815
You also have no idea how painful it is for me to set up something on my wife's iPod Touch or a co-worker's iPhone...
Sam, there are a thousand reasons to migrate to Android and its larger screens that have absolutely nothing to do with "stealing apps". You also outright tell people who jailbreak that their sole reason is to pirate apps. This is strident, insulting, and ultimately wrong.
Ron, I really think that the screen and Swiftkey keyboard alone will justify your purchase. The fact that you can add a 64GB memory card for music and photos is just gravy.
However, I would suggest you pick your co-workers' brains for another week or two before jumping in. I believe...
The "workarounds" are really only necessary to retain itunes compatibility. I don't use itunes, so it doesn't affect me. And Oovoo is superior to Facetime because it can be used with multiple platforms and had 4 way conference calling. So that not a workaround as much as it's an upgrade.
1) keyboards
2) Real multi-tasking and app switching
3) Superior video playback
4) Drag and file transfer
5) wireless file transfer
6) SD card expansion
7) swappable battery
And yes, a much larger screen. MUCH larger.
The S3 has a front facing camera for video chat. There no native Facetime program, but there are a half dozen video conferencing programs including Skype and OoVoo, which is cross platform and PC compatible. It also supports 4 user conferencing. There are ways to sync Android to itunes including...
If you mean, "does the Galaxy 3 have a useless voice assistant no one uses after a week?", then yes. It's called S Voice. It's "not as good" as Siri, but neither are ready for prime time.
Jellybean, which is coming soon to the S3, has Google Now, which is a phone assistant, but instead of...
Ron, this and app store/music store purchases are the shackles that Apple employs to keep you in their ecosystem. But it reminds me of people (this is years ago) who only bought Sony electronics for their "interoperability". But there was so much more to gain by stepping outside -- however, they...
Here's an interesting scenario:
Samsung slashes the price of the Galaxy S3 the same week the new iPhone is launched. Sprint, Verizon and AT&T steer as many of the stampeders to the S3 instead of the iPhone, offering two for one deals or instant rebates to entice upgraders to switch. It...
I wouldn't doubt that AT&T is steering people away from iPhones for a second. In fact, I'm sure all the iPhone carriers do so. They all make more money from Android phones than iPhones. They need to carry iPhones to have a complete roster for sale and iPhones do help with new activations, but...
There's no way to widen the screen without losing "retina screen" ppi unless the screen went from 640 pixels wide to 960 pixels wide. So they can't just make the current screen wider -- it would have to be a whole new kind of screen.
I know that Sam, bless his little hands, thinks anything over 3.5" is more like a tablet and unusable. But Ron and many, many other users want a larger screen. They want larger icons, larger keyboards, larger fonts, and larger maps.
The speculated 4" screen will give you none of that...
