The Quad audio in the case of Dynasty is the typical 4 channel cinema audio configuration: L/C/R/S.

Bob is currently away from his computer (on a very interesting trip, btw) but has been watching this keenly. So I wanted to give a quick shout out and break away briefly from working on PARASITE, which also has been keeping us quite busy. Jump back to over a year ago: We knew our elements of...

WAITING FOR OUR REVENGE.. When Bob first shared his Revenge of the Creature findings with me before he took the Archive's "Revenge" webpage public, I was a bit taken aback, as I had originally assumed Revenge was last "escapee in 3-D". Meaning, one of those 3-D shot titles that barely made it...

Regrettably the standard def Sensio release was made by older 4x3 scans that cropped some of the sides when compared to the newer 2-D widescreen releases. Adding to that there's occasional 3-D misalignment, some being extreme, so this title really could use a proper HD 3-D restoration.

3D Meet Bob Furmanek: HTF Golden Age 3-D Consultant

There are a good number of older 3-D features with unique titles (Sangaree, for example, uses glass plates to move credits through the 3-D z-space, and does so quite effectively) but A*P*E's one eye only credits share a special spot in stereoscopic history. ;) Back in 2003 I ribbed Dan Symmes...

So true. And the same goes for GOG, which if not for Kino's help, would still be unrestored and unseen.

And if you happen to be in Seattle before the official SIFF festival kicks off, there's a force of nature 3-D double feature! https://www.siff.net/year-round-cinema/force-of-nature-3d-double-feature-featuring-september-storm-and-ape

Surprisingly this title has never seen a DVD or bluray release, let alone in proper widescreen or 3-D. All the more a shame, as it's clear considerable effort went into the production. For me, this was a refreshing rediscovery.

Sizing issues as in somewhere in the camera rig stage for some shots or in the post production stage, one eye side was made slightly larger than the other. The severity of this issue often varies in the Columbia titles.

He probably puts them in the screen. Remember - When viewing a stereoscopic feature, it IS a 3-D window. ;)

What cool and also quasi-ironic is thankfully and finally some sixty years later, we CAN watch Dial M *with* glasses. :B) And I'm thankful that Warner Brothers made that possibility happen. Great pic, Bob!

IIRC, for the SPY KIDS 3-D bluray, the entire feature in encoded as MVC, so there is no shifts when going from the 2-D segments to the 3-D segments. The feature was good for its time and still has aggressive parallax which translates into deep 3-D and effective pop out negative parallax moments...

Now Todd, you know the Archive could not do anything with DOMO ARIGATO unless it at least had a chance to work on your other two 3-D favorites: THE NEBRASKAN and THE STEWARDESSES.. ;) ;)

As Bob noted, there's not much to post at the moment on this title, but be assured when the 3-D Film Archive moves on THE MASK, it also will have a superior 3-D bluray presentation on tap which hands down will be the best THE MASK has *ever* looked in 3-Dimensions.

It IS a shame. FORT TI used to have runs on AMC long ago, but the quality was so-so. Seeing this in high quality 3-D really is the way to go. Bob, was this the first Columbia picture to feature 3-channel (left, center, right) stereophonic sound?

You were correct Doug- Some things should remain buried! :3dglasses: Anaglyph 3DTV was far from desirable, especially in the old analog days when 3/4" U-Matic and 1" videotape were the actual video masters. Here in the States, Rich Koz (aka: The Son of Svengoolie) would host horror shows...

Count me in as another one who really enjoys FORT TI. Sony had struck new prints roughly ten years ago, which looked amazing when shown at the first World 3-D Film Expo. I really wish I could have seen it again, and think that is the last time it has been shown in public in polarized 3-D...

I concur. 3-D ticket sales accounted for a higher amount of the box office draw before the even steeper 3-D ticket surcharges were added a few years back. But even with today's typically less than 50% 3-D attendance of a given of movie, the added income from the higher ticket prices still brings...

I'm for one am not saying you are 'putting anyone on', but given there is no documentation or any other confirmable accounts of anaglyphic prints of DIAL M or HOUSE OF WAX, and you never personally viewed these prints, is it possible the listings were for the single strip 3-D versions that were...

3D Meet Bob Furmanek: HTF Golden Age 3-D Consultant

I mentioned most of this in the RAH's Top Gun 3D thread, but is worth repeating here with a few additions: The reason some titles have more ghosting than others typically is when higher contrast subject matter is placed in front or behind the stereo window. (Or saying this in technical terms...

Yes, but the resolution hit is pretty bad. No matter which 3D DVD system is used (field-sequential or Sensio side by side squeezed, which was approved by the DVD steering group) the normal 720x480 resolution per eye is halved. Yes. The 2D DVD is 1.85:1

If WB does another Golden Age 3-D title after HOUSE OF WAX, I would be surprised if it wasn't KISS ME KATE. Easily one of the best of the Golden Age.

That is some EXCELLENT promotional art, Bob! I've never seen that one before. I always wanted to see the rumored 3rd EC 3-D Comicbook that was never released. The 1st two 3-D ECs were outstanding for their time.

DRIVE ANGRY was shot in native 3-D. To distance themselves from the various and often shoddy 2-D to 3-D conversions, some of the trailers and posters went out of their way to add a "Shot in 3-D" blurb.
