BENNY HILL SHOW: complete and unedited!

You wanna talk about recycled props, what about those coke bottle glasses with the thin frames? They have small holes in the lens. I first noticed them in Set 1 and they're also in Set 2, I bet they're the same ones too. Likewise I bet they'd fetch a hefty sum in an auction if someone still has...

BENNY HILL SHOW: complete and unedited!

I like Parsons but I have to admit to liking Henry McGee much more. Not only could McGee play straight man to Benny but he's a good character actor too. Parsons struck me as a one note actor. I don't know whether it's because Parsons didn't have much of a range or wasn't given much of a chance...

BENNY HILL SHOW: complete and unedited!

Oh hey before I forget(seems like I'm almost forgetting a lot these days!) I saw a very interesting commercial on TV today. It's a new ad for Dr. Pepper and it features a very familiar tune. The commercial takes place in a restaurant where a young couple are sitting at a table. The guy talks...

BENNY HILL SHOW: complete and unedited!

Well I've had the chance to properly digest Set 2 and I give it a big :emoji_thumbsup: I prefer Set 2 over Set 1 because I like the evolution of Benny's Thames show in the 70's. He pumps up the humor... and the brief flashes of nudity! I love the majority of the stuff he filmed as opposed to...

Unfortunately I haven't gotten Set 2 yet, but hopefully within the next few days(and hopefully Costco has it for $29.99!).

BENNY HILL SHOW: complete and unedited!

Ah ok thanks, William. In one video catalog it showed a release date of 1/04 so I thought it came out on Tuesday. Wonder if it got pushed back...anyway it's just around the corner and I'll most likely be getting it from Costco again. That's assuming they'll carry it like they did set 1 for $29.95.

Has Set 2 come out yet? If so has anyone gotten it yet? :)

BENNY HILL SHOW: complete and unedited!

Lorenzo thanks for the link to the pic of Set 2! I was wondering what it might look like. I can't wait for it! I still don't believe we're finally getting all this stuff and wonderfully presented at that. Hey has anyone checked out Benny Hill's official site? It's extremely lavish and full of...

Would someone mind posting a pic of Cherri Gilham so I can see who we have in our midst? Semi-naked, fully clothed doesn't matter. :D

BENNY HILL SHOW: complete and unedited!

I saw a commercial for the set on A&E. Benny's back on TV albiet in the form of an ad. Also they have a few clips from 80's shows in the commercial taken from the documentary even though they make it clear it's from '69-'71. Who were the ad wizards that came up with that one?

BENNY HILL SHOW: complete and unedited!

I never really liked Chow Mein. He was one of the rare characters out of Benny's broad repertoire that never amused me. Actually I was thinking about it and I probably now only understand a lot of the double-entendre in all these episodes that I never did as a child watching this stuff in the 70's.

Thanks for the info on Andree Melly, William. Quite a unique and attractive face in my book.

I'm trying to remember if I've seen that Genesis video or not.. hmmm... *scratches head I'd like to point out that if you take the Benny Hill quiz on disc 3 there is a wrong answer that is counted as being right. Question #12: The quiz has the correct answer as being C) Orson Buggy but in...

BENNY HILL SHOW: complete and unedited!

True, it probably would have been an issue of rights versus restoration. Unfortunately they opted to do nothing. In a perfect world they would have restored the filmed segments to produce an immaculate DVD collection. Oh well, I hear that Rolling Stones song in the distance... ;)

BENNY HILL SHOW: complete and unedited!

Dan if you're a Benny Hill fan I wouldn't put too much of an emphasis on the quality of the filmed segments since the majority of Benny's shows were videotaped. But of course it's your perogative. :)

BENNY HILL SHOW: complete and unedited!

Anyone want to discuss why Benny is essentially dissed in England? The documentary on disc 3 of the new set addressed it, and that was made back in 1991, but I experienced it first hand when I was in London earlier this year. The cab drivers in England love the guy but the majority of 'uppity'...

BENNY HILL SHOW: complete and unedited!

Randy, I suppose it's possible but I doubt it. Channels didn't display their ID's during programs in the 70's as they do now. It wasn't done as far as I know. The habit of putting a station's ID/logo in the corner of the screen came about in the 90's. The only way I could see this being the case...

BENNY HILL SHOW: complete and unedited!

Here are some screengrabs from both new DVD set and the Best of Benny Hill DVD to illustrate how good the videotaped sequences look on the new set(luckily most of the show was videotaped) and how bad the filmed scenes look compared to the old 'Best of' disc. Ok so I couldn't resist throwing...

BENNY HILL SHOW: complete and unedited!

My wish has come true. I didn't even expect to find it but I just happened to see it and snatched it up with the gusto. Don'tcha just love it when you're actually not aware of a new release and you just happen upon it in the store? If you're a Benny Hill fan or a fan of comedy in general(you...
