Cannon And Others Coming Back Courtesy Of VEI

I been waiting for Matt Houston as well. Ever since people started complaining about some of the early first releases, I have kind of been holding my breath that VEI wouldn't abandon the whole project, especially if the sales on Hotel, Barnaby, and Cannon weren't good, which I dont really know...

Wow! You mean yet another company is releasing shows or seasons of shows I bought years ago? Be still my heart..... Seriously, why not just start with the unreleased season 4 like they did by beginning with season 3 of Mod Squad? What's the point.

It's gettin a little old if you ask me Same points being hammered into the ground over and over again. If you don't like it....how about this, DON'T BUY IT. It's your own perrogative. I for one thank VEI for putting out this stuff that most likely wasn't ever going to see the light of day. In...

Cannon And Others Coming Back Courtesy Of VEI

I think the fundamental disagreement here is based upon some theory you must have that either CBS offered VEI some pristine remastered prints and VEI said no or VEI simply requested these prints over better ones knowing full well some collectors would complain. I'm guessing that the above were...

16 year old child: "Dad, I need a car. I WANT a BMW." Dad: " Son, I can't financially handle buying you a BMW but I can afford to get you a decent used Altima. It's not in the same league as a BMW but it's a decent car that gets you where you need to go." Child: NO thanks Dad, I WANT an BMW...

So I guess the bottom line is you would rather have nothing at all then if those are the only two viable choices (Which obviously CBS or VEI determined were the only choices financially feasible to them with these products at this time). Good luck with that line of thinking. Keep enjoying the...

I may stand in the relative minority, but I'm still very thankful to VEI for putting this stuff out and also CBS for licensing them. Neither company had to do what they did to bring us these shows but thankfully they did or we would still be watching our worn out VHS copies of the same...

Honestly as long as releases of grail shows like these are well above boot quality (which these are), I am just happy to have them on legitimate release. Sometimes, I think we collectors get a little bit too entitled and nitpicky about this stuff and forget to just appreciate that we are getting...

I suppose we should all be glad at least Cannon got more respect from CBS (by licensing it at all for us) than the only other '"major" QM show left unreleased (12 '0" Clock High) did from it's joke of a parent company.

Glad Barnaby and Cannon are two of the first few being released. There were only 3 I was really interested in, these being two. Matt Houston is the other. Hope that one is coming soon as well.

Wow! Quite a lot for a show with mediocre demand at best. At that price, I'm starting to think Neil may be right that they may take a bath on this deal. Let's just say at this point I hope they get out Barnaby Jones and Matt Houston before they throw in the towel.

My only experience with this show was that when I was a kid in the mid 70's, we would go visit my relatives in Rahway NJ and I remember watching it whenever we would visit I thin on WPIX 11 Or WOR 9. But I do know that it must have ran for several years because it always seemed to be still...

Randy, I guess it's like Gary said, it's a matter of where you sit. We are of different ages on the forum and from different areas where the main things we saw syndicated varied greatly. Although I do have a little trouble believing that the first major US sitcom featuring a black actresss in...

Agree to disagree I guess Gary....but glad to have you back on the forum. Love the debate. :)

Every though I'm not a huge western fan, Trackdown is one I would like to see, but I did not include because I used the baseline of 3 seasons or 100 eps and I believe it ran around 70 eps (2 seasons). I also did not include Chaparral because although it isn't available here, it is out overseas...

I don't have time to do the research but I think it might be interesting to see how many Western series 55-80 having 100eps+ remain completely unreleased as compared to sitcoms/dramas from that period lasting 100+ I about guarantee you without doing the research that it's extremely lopsided.

I think the point Randy is that compared to the amount of Westerns released, the dramas and short lived sitcom's have paled in comparison. While nearly every MAJOR western (save Death Valley Days) has been either completed or well represented, there are MANY more long running sitcoms/dramas that...

I agree with you that our own preferences and favorites certainly influence people's opinions on a studio. I will tell you this though, in this hobby, historically fans of westerns have been FAR more catered to than fans of any other vintage genre (save Sci-Fi), so I do see that those of us who...

Seems like a good possibility you are correct on the next wave. Frankly, little here of interest for me though. Mostly stuff from the 90's to present. Great news for fans of those shows though if it's true. Personally, I would have rather seen them license Hillbillies, Love Boat, My Three Sons...

My dad was a cop so I watched all these shows with him first run from basically the time I could talk so I am so very happy to see what I call the prime Big 5 (Cannon, Mannix, Barnaby, and Rockford, and the NBC Sunday Mystery Movie Detectives) finally all being complete and added to my...

Kudos to CBS for obviously being reasonable with their rights so someone else could jump in and put this stuff out for we fans. I'm very impressed. Now, if they would just finish Hillbillies.....
