    Upscaling/HDef DVD Player merged thread

I too just received my V880 from HKFlix. I have it hooked up to my Panny L300U projector via the DVI input. It took a while to get everything dialed in and calibrated, but I'm finally up and running. Currently I have the Momitsu set to the "L300U wide 768" setting. It's connected via a 30 foot...

    Upscaling/HDef DVD Player merged thread

Well, I just pulled the trigger on the Momistu V880. I also got a 30 foot DVI-D cable from Blue Jeans Cable. I hope that it's worth the trouble. I'm starting to feel buyer's remorse already. I guess I'll find out in a few days.

OK, thanks for the clarification on the DVI to VGA digital versus analog issue. So, to get back to my earlier question, using a VGA cable connected to the Momitsu with a DVI to VGA adapter should work, right? It's not certain whether the picture quality would be worth the trouble, but the...

    Upscaling/HDef DVD Player merged thread

John F, I guess I'm a bit confused. Are you saying that the player outputs a digital signal through its DVI port, but the VGA cable converts the signal to analog? Wouldn't there have to be some kind of D/A converter to make this happen? I understand that a VGA cable is an analog connection, but...

    Upscaling/HDef DVD Player merged thread

Thanks for the tip. I'm wondering if I should get a VGA cable, then use a VGA to DVI adaptor to connect the projector to the DVD player. I have to use a fairly long cable run (25 or 30 feet), and I hear that most DVI cables don't perform well in longer runs. Not to mention the cost issue...

Dave, I see your point about the 1:1 pixel mapping with your projector. I wish mine were capable of 1:1, but apparently it's not, even with the Momitsu's custom scaling feature. I'm leaning more and more toward the Momitsu. Since my projector is capable of a pure digital connection through...

DaveGTP, I'm surprised to hear you say that the Zenith has inferior deinterlacing to your CP72. I would have thought that the Farouja chip would do a better job than whatever chip the CP72 has. Are you feeding your projector a 1080i signal, or 480p? I would have thought that you would get better...

Neil, you're right that 1080i should scale very well on my 1/4 HD projector. However, it would be nice to avoid having to scale the image twice, which might lead to additional artifacts. On the other hand, I just read an interesting thread over on AVS Forum that indicates that it's not possible...

    Upscaling/HDef DVD Player merged thread

I'm interested in possibly getting an upscaling DVD player to replace my aging JVC XV723GD. I have a Panasonic L300U LCD projector that has a native resolution of 960 X 540. Currently I'm feeding it a progressive signal through component cables. The projector has a DVI input, but I understand...
