    International BLU-RAY DISCS FROM GERMANY

What I wouldn't give if these folks would undertake Steve Reeves' Hercules, Hercules Unchained, The White Warrior and Last Days of Pompeii as blu-ray releases of this quality, too!

My Thief of Baghdad BD came a few days ago. Looks great with amazing sharpness, color saturation and nice audio. Easily removable subs, too. A very few German spoken short bits (bits not in the USA release version), something also true in a previous Kirk Douglas Ulysses German BD. Didn't...

I LOVE it! Just wish more for these peplum classics might be on the horizon from Germany and France. The Steve Reeves Hercules titles would be most welcome in HD.

As much as I love the German blu-ray releases, after many upgrades of many films my advice has got to be "go for the Kino". This is especially true of Daddy Long Legs and Fanny.

I really wish they would let go with a few more DeMilles, classics like Sign of the Cross, The Plainsman, Reap the Wild Wind, The Crusades, or as Billy noted, Unconquered.

The German Colossus of Rhodes has NO English subs option, or I would have bought it day one. I love the fabulous westerns that we are seeing from Germany, but I sure wish they would release BD's of at least a few of the peplum films some of us enjoyed as kids, and WITH English subtitles.

We saw the "long" version last night. There's no intermission or exit music, but the overture is there. Quite a gorgeous blu-ray all the way through. Everyone loved it.

My Anne of the Indies arrived yesterday and I'm quite pleased with it. It has the Fox logo on the case insert so I'd imagine that it is, in fact, an "official" release. There are some soft shots here and there but, for the most part, it is quite nice and mostly sharp and clear. I also...

    International BLU-RAY DISCS FROM GERMANY

My Anne of the Indies should be arriving any day now and I'll report on it. I have the 55 Days BD from Germany and it is drop dead gorgeous, one of the crown jewels of my entire collection. You won't be disappointed.

Nobody's mentioned the upcoming Koch Media blu-ray of For Whom the Bell Tolls (Wem die Stunde schlägt) which will be released on June 25. This one's been on my most wanted list for years. Should be nice as Koch usually has an excellent product.

I have Mogli-The Jungle Book and it looks quite good to me, that is to say it looks much like the other Korda fantasy from the 40's, Thief of Bagdad, in the recent UK Edition. There are soft shots and sections in both, still both obviously come from the best print available. I was pleased with...

    International BLU-RAY DISCS FROM GERMANY

I just received my THE CARDINAL BD from Germany, along with the KSM DVD of BOY ON A DOLPHIN (not bad and is indeed widescreen). The real treasure in the box, though, was a three BD disc set which is called DIE SCHONSTEN KLASSIKER AUS 1001 NACHT on the Amazon.de site. There are three jaw...

Bravo to Koch Media in Germany, who is putting out some really interesting BDs these days. Their "Western Legenden" series, which is a numbered series through 26 (so far) consists of standard DVDs and these blu-rays of American western classics: # 7 YELLOW SKY # 9 THE OX BOW INCIDENT #16...

The Germans do tend to get it right. Haven't a one in my collection with those forced subtitles that the French are so fond of. THE MAN WHO SHOT LIBERTY VALANCE and EXODUS are two I'm presently ordering, as well.
