DVD master on Blu-ray with the higher resolution as the only improvement. Not the way it was supposed to be with Blu-ray. I don't expect a title like this to get the meticulous attention that Lawrence of Arabia did, but do a new transfer for cryin' out loud.
I have begun to take another stance. While I still believe that MGM offering a, by now, ancient master of the roadshow for Blu-ray disc(!) release in 2016 is absolutely absurd, and IMHO shameful, the market obviously will no longer support anything else. I say this in reference to the costs of...
I think by now we all know MGM isn't going to do anything more with catalog titles that will not sell well. Something like this and The Alamo, which would cost quite a bit to restore properly they are staying away from. We also know, as in the case with The Alamo, that they do not want outside...
I am torn about this one. The fee has been paid, and I want to support Twilight Time (though I also do through other titles anyway). I may end up getting this if it's still around in a couple months; there are other TT titles I'll get before this, Exodus for one.
I might not mind paying $14.99 for half full, but...
Gary Barber's Movie Studio should not be rewarded in the least for the reprehensible handling of their titles.
I hate feeling like a schmuck, and paying for the privilege, but I won't try to tell people what to spend their money on.
I haven't seen it, but I'm surprised Twilight Time bothered if the transfer was so poor. I am now on the fence about a purchase. So the roadshow sounds like it is non-anamorphic.
