How can you be so sure he "hates" the movies? I think that attitude is a part of the character, and there's no way to tell his true feelings on the matter. As for being obsessed, he could have gone the Mystery Science Theater route and chosen old, obscure movies, but he didn't. He targeted...
"You've got to be kidding me."
Of course I'm kidding! Now, go unchain the prostitute in your basement.
"You may not necessairly find it amusing, but there is a purpose behind it."
Thank you.
"No doubt it's a character to some degree but it's partly the real person too...
"His digressions from the actual review serve absolutely no purpose,"
Humor has no purpose? For me, it makes the video watchable and enjoyable; I would not watch a straight review of these wretched movies.
Or are you one of the fanboys he's lampooning?
"I don't understand why he can't let it go."
Because he's having fun making fun of people who can't let it go? It's a persona, a character that he's created, that's needling fanboys as much as George Lucas. If you agree that he's not really a serial killer, then it's a short step to agreeing...
"That being said, I can't imagine being so mad about a movie that I would feel the need to make a 90 minute You Tube clip to vent about it a decade later."
Who's mad? Not the guy making these videos, as far as I can tell. Why are you so mad at him for making them?
"However, I don't see why he even needs to be a serial killer, he seems to have a pretty good grasp of how Women think."
I had the same thought. The scene where he's rambling off a woman's questions to his one (Is she hot?) is hysterical.
I think a lot of people don't reach that point because they find his voice annoying. So all they see is the surface level of SW fanboy analysis and don't catch the layer of fanboy parody.
