Personally, I think 4K Blu-ray is going to be another bust

I have some of those as well as other catalog titles on my list. I have moved on from DVD, I know my bad. However, I can watch a streamed version a chunk of the time if I really want to see and old TV show or movie. Watching CSI right now on Hulu, looks great and I don't need to own a DVD and...

Did seem to be different based on what I read... This is the site I have been reading learning about what this stuff really means... http://www.digital-intermediate.co.uk/resolution/resolutionsize.htm

Resolution is just part of what goes into a 4K disc. So what if they have to scale it up? They have to scale a 2K DI down to Blu-ray resolution. You also get 64m colors vs 16m colors on your Blu-ray, better contrast and HDR. People need to move on from the resolution stuff. Heck I would say of...

Personally, I think 4K Blu-ray is going to be another bust

The question would be what is the market for discs older then the 80's for the average consumer. With the exception of a few of the really popular ones? I would love to see some so I can stop seeing posts about none being there. They have at least created 4K cuts of some like Lawrence of Arabia...

No but there have been several IMAX documentaries released that you can run non-HDR. As well as a couple european releases that didn't include HDR at all. My point is if they wanted to release a UHD disc without HDR it can be done.

There have been a few. Most of the old movies available via streaming are 4K only no HDR.

Your only challenge is starting in 2016... 3D started to be removed from all current TVs. I believe that 2017 we may see zero TVs with 3D support.

I keep seeing posts about view distance. Give me a break people it doesn't mater. What maters is 8 bit color vs. 10/12 bit with 4K... Superior contrast to any 1080p TV even the vaunted plasmas (I still own a VT25 so yes I know what I talking about). Then there is HDR which is just amazing. Just...

Conjuring 2 has been announced. http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-Conjuring-2-4K-Blu-ray/157085/ Wrath of Khan has been announced. http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Star-Trek-II-The-Wrath-of-Khan-4K-Blu-ray/153729/ Don't Breathe did so bad in the box office I'm surprised they are doing any release...

Personally, I think 4K Blu-ray is going to be another bust

Then why would people buy the UHD release? You don't think this is why they are doing Atmos/DTS:X on UHD releases? I'm sure the studios only think people that have gone through the effort to upgrade to 4K are the ones doing Atmos/DTS:X. Since both typically require a new receiver which I think...

Well you didn't have any UHD players until really mid year this year so it is pretty on par. Also 4K TV sales only really took of this year. So I would say it is pretty Apples to Apples in my opinion.

What was their setup? Watching on a 50" 4K TV? This is the challenge in believing reviews on face value. Just like 1080p days a calibrated system can change the way you see a movie. 4K/HDR can look different on many different TVs. Samsung's are brighter, LG OLED darker blacks but not quite as...

Personally, I think 4K Blu-ray is going to be another bust

There are plenty of discs out there that outshine the Blu-ray edition. There are several discs that are coming out cheaper then $30 and there have been plenty of sales this holiday season. I now have 65 UHD Blu-rays and some are better then others and some really knock it out of the ball park. I...
