Ugh, is THAT the logic people are using?
The logic the studio used, I'm told, in titling this release "The Official Season 2" is because some, but not all, of the second season eps have been made available on other DVD releases (both MPI's and several of the various unauthorized PD releases)...
Yes, I mean Jim. Great guy.
And yeah, I got my Petticoats mixed up!
I've seen petticoats still worn here in the south (grew up in TX, currently live in TN), but hardly as a casual thing: costumes (obviously), special balls/parties, or some other appropriate occasion such as a square...
I've been assured by multiple parties that there are no intentions of going back and re-doing Season 1. Next stop: season three and beyond...if sales warrant it.
And it may interest you to know, actually, that the DVD producer of "that MPI crap" contributed quite a bit, I hear, to Paul...
It may not mean anything at all. It's CBS/Par's default, standard warning they now seem to rubber-stamp on many releases...and as actual experience has proven, some of these releases that carry the warning have no changes at all. Whatsoever.
I'll try to ask somebody in-the-know if they think...
I simply fail to understand where people are coming from, saying that the MPI releases are "unwatchable".
No, they're not the best transfers I've ever seen anywhere...let's get that straight off the top.
On the other hand, they're the best transfers of The Beverly Hillbillies I've ever seen...
NObody owns the rights to Season 1.
Season 1 and the first half of season 2 are in the public domain...which is why there are so many crappy-looking unauthorized DVDs out there with those 55 episodes.
However, it's also why most of those do not have the real opening and closing theme songs...
