My impression from the review was the included levels were haphazardly organized and didn't compose a conventional game progression.
Similarly, fan sharing was also not particularly organized yet and didn't seem to offer a way to find anything more than random levels. No good ratings...
Ars Technica recently had a look at Super Mario Maker
http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2015/09/super-mario-maker-not-everyone-can-be-miyamoto-but-everyone-can-try/
I admit, I don't get it. As one of the commenters said, $60 is expensive for a level editor.
I wonder if this is really a...
I hear you. I'd enjoy playing Pikmin 3, among others. But I don't have time for two systems. To call Destiny a time sink is to call a black hole a little gravitational tug. :)
That would be pretty neat. As a middle- or high-schooler, this would have been awesome. Back in my day, all we had were pirated copies of EA's Monster Construction Kit, which usually wouldn't load! And we liked it!
Will Mario Maker allow users to download user-made games? I have no interest in making my own levels. But if there's a robust user community, with ranked (and reviewed) fan submissions for download, that would be appealing.
Thanks :) I'm playing Fallout 3 New Vegas, and realizing I'm about ready for a change in video game styles. More colors. Less brown and blood-red.
Hopefully Wii U pricing will remain aggressive after the holidays. I won't be buying in 2014. But maybe early 2015.
Is that a good price? It seems like a good price. But I can't keep straight which games are the good Mario Galaxy-quality ones and which are pack-in throwaways.
Huge demo at Tysons Mall, with reps to pitch the games and features. There are maybe eight gaming stations. Two are four player games on 80" screens. The reps will play games with kids to fill in.
My 16 yo niece is visiting this week, and she's got a Wii at home. I browsed BestBuy this week, but they didn't have any WiiU on the shelves. Probably for the best. SAF for an unexpected videogame purchase would have been low, especially just for the niece's visit :)
They might be missing out on how video games are enjoyed by the new generation of gamers.
I was talking to a friend and mentioned Twitch, having just learned of it recently. I assumed he'd never have heard of it, since he's not a gamer. He said, oh yeah, my son watches that while playing Minecraft.
SSB. I've never played it. Missed the whole N64 phenom. Didn't get it, based on reviews. Pacman. Fighting. Supermoves. Putting the smack down.Got it. That's so completely bonkers it's transcendent. When does this come out? I need to save up for a Wii bit of a splurge.
Mario Maker is intriguing. I have no interest in building levels (but if I was 12, I'd being going bananas! :D ). If user-levels are available for download, especially with a good ranking and review system, that would be cool.
I don't understand the Zelda thing. I play a couple hours of Zelda...
It was a big deal to me.
Mario Galaxy looked great, despite being SD. And the pack-in games (bowling and fruit ninja and what all) could have been 8 bit and still been fun. But third party games looked bad. The Lego games were horrible looking, having played them on my 360. Even my wife...
http://www.polygon.com/2014/6/9/5793660/ubisoft-unreleased-wii-u-gamesGuillemot declined to say how many Wii U would have to sell to make releasing the games worthwhile."We don't have a number," he said. "We need the sales to increase so it becomes more and more mass market then we will have the...
I had an N64 (loved it) and a GameCube (ok). But come 2009, I was burnt out on subtitled beepy-boopy Nintendo characters, and bought a 360. I seriously considered the Wii, but the Wii's SD graphics were unacceptable against the new HD consoles. And I didn't like the palsied feel of the motions...
I had a dim opinion on the Wii U a year ago. And I still don't understand the tablet controller. But in Summer of 2014, I see a Mario game, Pikmin 3, Lego miami vice, DK arctic tundra, and Mario Kart 8. This looks like a lineup that could occupy me for a year or two; maybe rope my wife into some...
I missed your post first go around. That's an attractive bundle. Unfortunately I'm not ready to buy a new system yet. But the system, two controllers, two top games for $330 is nice.
Is that really normal, 2 hr charge on the Wii U gamepad? That seems like a system-killing problem. Or does it start at 4 hrs new, and yours is down to 2 hrs after 2 years of many recharges?
Huh?
Oh.I'd completely lost track of the thread's raison d'être. The Wii is $300 now, with some game bundled. $329 with MK8. It's moving up my interest list for possible holiday purchase. I wonder if my wife would believe that we need it for thanksgiving , and my family visits? Can four...
I never had the Wavebird. And I sold my GC to a buddy several years ago. I'd get a Wii U Pro, I guess as a second controller. Why would anyone buy a GC corded controller for a Wii U, instead of a Wii U cordless controller? Whats the purpose of that adapter?
Ah, I didn't know it had a dock. That could be a little more manageable. I don't usually play 3 hours at a time. But sometimes. I've found, for example, Alan Wake's chapters are essentially 3-hrs long and it's best to wait until I've got an afternoon to play a chapter in one sitting.
And then...
3 hrs! Yikes! I thought I'd read 6. 3 hr battery life seems like a system killer. Does it use AA batteries so you can easily change out rechargeable batteries?Nope. Googling says it's a 3 -5 hr battery, built in, USB recharger. Bummer. :(
