I still wish I had it. Because imperfect CarPlay is still better than janky Auto-maker nav system and Bluetooth interface.
A year in, ive quit using my Subaru integrated map system and just use Apple Maps navigating by audio because car maker maps are so sucky.
“The glacial pacing of the auto industry relative to the consumer electronics industry is at least partly to blame, but it’s not the only culprit; after all, GM now offers CarPlay on a majority of the vehicles that it sells. A deeper issue, I believe, is pride — a sense that automakers are at...
And really, for music and calls, all the current integrated systems work fine. I've been traveling lately and almost always, if the car has Bluetooth, it will connect easily and play music and do phone calls fine.
My desire, or maybe hope, is really about maps, and for a little tighter...
Ford had said they were bringing CarPlay in the 2016 Sync system. But all I see so far is Siri Eyes Free, indicating Ford remains uninterested in the Apple CarPlay or Android Auto systems.

Sorry about that. Link apparently changed after iMore posted. This kinda works. After 30 sec, it starts partially repeating itself. VW is having problems with its YouTube account I think :)
So I saw this ad on TV this evening.

Scroll down towards the bottom for videos of Android Auto and Apple CarPlay in the 2016 Accord.
A reminder of the lethargic pace of car technology:

Haha. Yeah, it can be nice to learn that new tech you skipped isn't a major miss. Been there :)
My hope is that CarPlay itself is decent, and the problems were Honda specific (most likely, that one model had a glitch. Or even my iPhone has a glitch. At the time I didn't think to plug in my...
Yep. I recommend you give it a go and let me know how it is.
I'll test drive another CarPlay-enabled Honda sooner than later. And I intend to test drive other CarPlay cars like the VW and Hyundai. Hopefully I just got the one bad unit.
I test drove the Honda Accord EX-L V6, which includes CarPlay (and Android Auto) as standard feature.
CarPlay was an unmitigated disaster.
With my iPhone connected, I couldn't change the car's volume. FM Radio. Podcast. Apple Music. It was all stuck at too-loud, and the volume controls had...
“Apple CarPlay review | The Verge”

Not a detailed review. Basically, CarPlay is mediocre but automaker's systems are worse.
The biggest recurrent complaint is that Google maps isn't supported. Based on rumors of ios9, I'm hoping...
“In many cases, owners simply prefer to use their smartphone or tablet because it meets their needs; they’re familiar with the device and it’s accurate,” said Kristin Kolodge, executive director of driver interaction & HMI research at J.D. Power. “In-vehicle connectivity technology that’s not...

You're just a couple months away, assuming typical Fall release. You should wait even if there's no Car Play :)
My car test driving is on hold until 2016 releases. My goal was to buy my wife a Corolla this Fall, and do some casual test driving for myself this Summer and Winter to buy next...
I fear that despite my keen interest and wait, my next car won't have CarPlay. My wife is getting a 2015 or 2016 Corolla; no CarPlay.
I'm leaning strongly towards another Accord; also no CarPlay.
I'll look at Hyundai and VW. I don't think I'm a Chevy or GM owner.
My primary question is: Is CarPlay effectively abandonware? Like NewsStand and Passbook? Or is Apple committed to the long slog of bringing auto makers on board, and iterating it year by year? (that is, will my 2015 Brand X CarPlay work with my 2020 iPhone 9?)
My secondary question: how...
“Apple Car: Out. Get out.” (Final footnote dismissing with prejudice we'll see it, it would want to see it, at WWDC.

Best status I can find on CarPlay.

That would be good for me until I get a CarPlay capable car. I have an Arkon mount in my car, and my iPhone is in it whenever I'm driving. I use it for maps, audiobooks, podcasts, and music always. A CarPlay UI would be great.
I've read and seen so little, I don't have an informed opinion; though I have high expectations -- perhaps too high. Having iOS Maps displayed on screen and third-party apps like Overcast accessible would be great to me. If Audible has a CarPlay app, that's my trifecta while driving. And having...
