Sam, I've long long labored under the impression you were about 30 years younger ;)
Of course, you might think I'm a two dimensional cartoon character...
I'm still betting against a taller phone. My bet is, if it's got more pixels, it's larger all around.
I'll being watching from the sidelines until next year at least. We've got to get into our new place this Winter, find out how reception is, and the decide if we stay AT&T or switch to Verizon...
I like the bumper, but it doesn't work with my car adapter. So I'm ceaseless for a year now.
As for switching to Android...its surprisingly difficult to find info on that phone. Samsung's site gives little info on my iPad, and the tech radar review had a next page link after every paragraph...
In stark contrast to everything I think, the most substantive rumors support the notion of the increased-height notion.

Apple has been on a relentless push to increase pixel density on all its devices. First the iPhone, then the iPad, and next -- per rumors -- the MacBook Air or Pro line. It seems very unlikely Apple will next decrease the pixel density of its next phone. I think this is actually the least likely...
Instapaper does, according to its developer. (I don't use the app, but I enjoy Marco's blog and podcast) What about games? Infinity Blade II?
But on the iPhone: it's already "Retina", and apps support the double res. If it gets a larger screen, I see that as a "bigger screen" thing than a...
Apple's selling a $500 device with a 2048 x 1536 screen. If they want a 25% larger iPhone, I predict they can make it with 1200 x 800 pixels, rather than making it lower density, and not have to retcon marketing.
I'm going to start a rumor that Apple's going to get into the ISP business too, so they can make money off of our WiFi use of our iOS devices! Huge profit maker!
I've got a consistent habit of: iPhone in left pocket, keys in right pocket. That's kept me safe from scratching so far. I used screen protectors with my Palm PDAs,and have been more than glad to not have them with the change to the iPhone.
But others should chime in with suggestions; I...
It's not whether 4" 960 x 640 screen would look good, it's whether Apple would ship such a screen given their emphasis on "Retina Display" and >300 ppi on the iPhone. I don't see Apple going backwards on resolution.
We'll know for real this Fall (another prediction ;)
Bigger pixels is a bad solution. Apple won't do it (my prediction).
The article is reasonable. But my opinion is that if Apple releases a larger phone it will be a 4.375" screen with 1200 x 800. Same pixel pitch, same screen aspect ratio, but 25% larger on each side.
Regarding larger size: I'm OK with the current 3.5" iPhone. It feels good.
If it's Lumia'd style, getting worse to get bigger (4.5" 800x480 screen), then no.
If it's a stretch-armstronged iPhone 4S (4.5" 960x640 screen), then no.
If it's Androided, iPhone 4S at 4.5" 1280x800, but has...
Speculation is fun. I was thinking it was time to start the speculation of the new iPhone (because that's what I think the name will be) and iOS6.
What puts me off here? I think we -- I think I -- deserve better than LINK-BAIT! thread titles.
I don't understand the rumor or this thread.
"Dud" is perforative term implying the device is a significant failure, deeply disappointing, that it will not sell, that few people will be interested. Examples:
Blackberry Storm was a dud
Palm Pre
HP Palm tablet...
I mean a dud that more and more people keep buying, making Apple the "largest" company in the US.
Why would I upgrade from my iPhone 4? Isn't it obvious? Faster processor (A5x vs A4). 4G vs 3G. Siri. Better Camera. Two-year renewal pricing.
How is this a "dud"?
