Rich, clear the ear wax out, man!
The new (D2-R2) DTS pressing SMOKES the old one, and the DD DVD. I had the DTS LD for a while and the new DTS DVD is pretty damn close to those big, beautiful 12" gatefold packaged discs in soundtrack quality.

I have a Toshiba 55" RPTV using component video. It seemed to have less edge enhancment and a slightly less gritty/harsh, digital look to it.
Maybe, as was stated by Darren, it's a placebo effect.

My God the difference was astounding!
Much more like the DTS laserdisc of yore! Not just louder bass, but cleaner and more musical and definitely deeper, and cleaner dialog and dynamic music tracks.
DTS has got to go back to encoding their own stuff! They do a much better job than most...
