HTF REVIEW: Star Wars - Episode III: Revenge of the Sith

The formation of the Alliance is well told if you watch Episode III and Episode IV back to back. You get the idea easily.

HTF REVIEW: Star Wars - Episode III: Revenge of the Sith

Yes. And no it's not their best chemistry in the Prequels. But, it is their most stunning scene together, if you wish.

HTF REVIEW: Star Wars - Episode III: Revenge of the Sith

Today, I watched the entire Prequel Trilogy in one sitting and it's amazing how the performances rise as the story gets more intense, with Episode III having the best performances. I agree with Robert's assestment on Lucas' style when it comes to the Prequels. He's dead-on what that post...

HTF REVIEW: Star Wars - Episode III: Revenge of the Sith

Yeah, Kevin. That's a great moment too. The whole Separatist alaughter sequence is great. And Lucas hit it on the head in the commentary when talks about intercutting the Declaration of the Empire and the Slaughter of the Separatist. It really is an homage to the end of the Godfather where...

HTF REVIEW: Star Wars - Episode III: Revenge of the Sith

Kevin, Tim, The coldest moment I've seen in all the Star Wars films happens in Episode III. It's when Vader cuts down Nute Gunray in midsentence. Everytime that comes up, I rewind it. That is the Dark Side. That's Darth Vader. Just a great little moment for me.

HTF REVIEW: Star Wars - Episode III: Revenge of the Sith

I noticed the loss in resolution in that scene as well. Doesn't bother me but it's there. Still, the film is still stunning to look at. I've seen more detail each time I've watched it. I shudder to think what the HD version of this film will look like in the future.

HTF REVIEW: Star Wars - Episode III: Revenge of the Sith

Tim, I'm with you. Clones looks great but it has a softness to it. Sith is sharper and it does have something to do with the cameras used. The cameras on Clones were first generation cameras while Sith was the next generation, along with the lenses. Now, I think Lucas used that as a...

HTF REVIEW: Star Wars - Episode III: Revenge of the Sith

Yeah, Chris. His opening paragraph pretty much turned me off to the rest of his review. He's definitely allowed on to like the film but when he starts to connect it to his childhood, it because the same-tired mantra of "Lucas Raped My Childhood" that we've been hearing since Episode I.

HTF REVIEW: Star Wars - Episode III: Revenge of the Sith

Very correct post, MikeRS. That was exactly the plans in Clones.

HTF REVIEW: Star Wars - Episode III: Revenge of the Sith

Yeah, that was an interesting cue, using military type drum rifts in the beginning. But, it was great. Set the mood just right for the opening battle.

HTF REVIEW: Star Wars - Episode III: Revenge of the Sith

All of these favorite moments listed by people here are great but the standout scene for me was the Rumination Scene between Anakin and Padme. No dialogue. Haunting music by John Williams. Natalie and Hayden delivered tragically here. The visuals, stunning. Anakin makes his choice in this...

HTF REVIEW: Star Wars - Episode III: Revenge of the Sith

As much as his turn seems fast on screen, it really isn't. Anakin is reluctant to do Sidious biding. There's a medium close up shot of Hayden when he lowers his head in disgust as Sidious orders him to the Jedi Temple. Clearly, in that shot the way Hayden played it, he didn't want to do it...
