I guess. But even if they stretch to a TV series and maybe another couple movies, it still seems like a bad investment.
One "Exorcist" movie was a hit, and it came out 50 years ago.
None of the others did especially well.
Even if the 2023 movie was a hit - which doesn't appear to be the case...
Not sure how it makes any sense for the studio to have spent $400 million to get the rights to make only 3 movies.
Even with modest budgets around $30m, each movie would need to gross around $400m-$500m to make a profit, and not many horror flicks get that high.
