The meet went well, but it was kind of a small crowd:
Hank Frankenberg
Greg Risley
Frederick Falk
Nils Luehrmann
Jonathan Atkins
(edit: I forgot someone! Now he's on the list!) Scott Oliver
Rodney (whose last name I don't remember)
... and myself ...
It was quite an adventure...
Everyone -
I've been working on a Web site with pictures from the first Austin HT meet, as well as the most recent meet. Tomorrow morning I will put the finishing touches on the site and post it. The wait is almost over...
Jonathan -
"Groundhog Day" was a movie that really pleasantly surprised me. I was expecting it to be a by-the-numbers light romantic comedy, but it dared to be more thought-provoking than that...
Though it was frustrating seeing him live the same day over and over again, it was quite...
Jonathan -
You're right, a lack of time is keeping me from throwing together a Web site with the HT meet pictures. I was going to try to put something together this evening...but if I don't have time or don't finish, I'll bring a few CD-Rs with the pictures to the meet on Saturday...
Hank - while you're talking to engineers about DLP projectors & color wheels, I've always wondered...
How can passing light through a color wheel yield different color for each of approximately 1,000,000 pixels? And how can colors be mixed by the wheel? If the wheel has red, green, blue, and...
Just got back from Scott Oliver's place, where I heard two tube power amps in action, from Rogue Audio and Air Tight.
Other equipment: a Meridian CD transport, Theta Casanova pre/pro/DAC, and JM Reynaud Offrande speakers.
Everyone who was there (Scott, Greg Risley, and myself) brought CDs and...

If your hard drive is still readable and your system boots, you should be able to download a virus removal...
Hank -
If Nils brings the plastic panels to the meet, I'm especially looking forward to seeing them in action.
If I like what I see, then I'll take the hint... :)
Wow ... a lot has happened in this thread since the last time I checked it. Work is kicking my butt and keeping me from spending a lot of time organizing this meet.
I'm particularly interested in the DIY acoustic treatment and projector/screen shootout ideas being proposed. Whoever eventually...
Steve - I like the projector shootout idea. By the way, how cheap are good CRT FPTVs becoming? It's been about a year since I looked, but an HD-capable CRT with
Either May 4 or 11 works for me. We could do our tweak testing - speaker wires, analog & digital interconnects, power cords, etc. We could also compare sighted and blind testing results. I have an SPL meter so we can approximately level-match.
Who hasn't hosted yet who would like to???
