    InFocus 4805 TVAuthority Q&A

IR signals tend to bounce off surfaces well (it is just a frequency of light after all) and so the majority of projectors function this way with the IR sensor on the front of the projector so it will pick up the reflection from the screen. I've even been able to control DVD players this way.

My Bravo D1 DVD player using DVI works fine with the 4805. I would suspect it's the player's output settings.

How about a list of the unauthorized? http://www.infocushome.com/deauthorized/index.htm It's probably easiest to just call if you're not sure.

Those figures are accurate, so real limit. Your seating distance will also be a factor in the impression of size. Best to be 1.75 to 2 times the screen width.

    InFocus 4805 TVAuthority Q&A

I'm probably the most extreme example of having a small screen with the 4805 (a mere 50 inches) and the reason is exactly the limitations of my room. Sure, I could put up a 76 inch screen or larger, but it totally kills the room as a living room and for now I want that balance. It took me awhile...

I can easily see RBE too and it was the main reason I didn't go for the 4800/X1. I decided to wait for the 4805 to see if there was an improvement. There was enough of one to make me keep it. There are occasions of RBE with the 4805, but usually in the most extreme contrast scenes. But even with...

Well, I think to truly compare you need to be comparing the same sizes at the same viewing distance. How would the RPTV look blown up to 76 inches (and it's probably telling they don't even make CRT projection sets that large).

Maybe one thing to consider is the size of the image. Are the image sizes comparable? I think the smallest size the 4805 can go is around 45 inches. I had the opposite experience actually, moving from a 47" Toshiba RPTV. I currently have the 4805 set to a 50" image.

The URL in the quote section of my preceding post is functional (the two forward slashes are supposed to be there), so anyone can cut and paste. I popped in the Matrix and noticed an occasional flicker, so I rolled it back to 1.02.

Evan, that link didn't work properly for me so I had search on AVS. Just in case it's auto-truncated... I upgraded the firmware but didn't notice a flickering problem. I'll have to look more closely now.

DCDi will kick in automatically when it gets an interlaced signal. Generally you'll get better PQ with the projector doing the deinterlacing.

This is the first I've heard of "temporal dithering." What is it exactly? I have no complaints about using the XBox with the 4805 and have never seen a post to state otherwise.

    InFocus 4805 TVAuthority Q&A

I've had the chance to see both the X1 and 4805 in action. The most obvious difference to me is the reduction of the RBE (rainbow effect) with the 4805. I saw it quite a bit with the X1 and was the main detterent for my getting it. It is barely noticeable on the 4805 and when I do see it, it is...

    InFocus 4805 TVAuthority Q&A

Even with displays like conventional RPTVs the sage advice is to compare which is better at "line doubling" - the display or the player. Generally people find the display is better at converting the signal, especially when using an inexpensive (e.g. under $150) progressive scan player. If you...
