So I know you didn't think today would just pass without notice
Today marks the 15th anniversary of the release of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring.
It was my first midnight movie, and I remember being absolutely enchanted by it. One of the things I most enjoyed about...
Fellowship really is a treasure. Easily the best of the ME movies, in my opinion. Balances the spectacle with the heart perfectly, taking the best of PJ and suppressing the more bombastic tendencies where applicable.
Just a wonderful film, one of the benchmarks in epic/blockbuster filmmaking...
So yesterday marked the 10th anniversary of the December 17, 2003 release of The Return of the King. (And today is the 11th anniversary of The Two Towers, and tomorrow the 12th anniversary of Fellowship!)
I've been thinking about the LOTR film trilogy, JRR Tolkien's lifetime of writing, and...
So, I dug this thread up to reminisce a bit. Ten years ago, I was in a mild state of euphoria. FOTR was my first midnight movie, and it was a corker. More than any other film, FOTR cemented my love of online film discussion. I had just joined HTF a few months before, and I never really...

Amazon delivered it yesterday. I've only listened to the first CD, but I already like it immensely. I do feel that TTT is a very strong soundtrack, so I have high expectations for the remainder. Only a year long wait for ROTK:CR now. But 6 CD's full of LOTR music is a beautiful thing to tide...
My wife was 9 months pregnant on Trilogy Tuesday, so I went to work and then to a midnight ROTK show. I regretted the decision, even though it wasn't really a decision I had :)
But as a huge lover of the films...it still stung not being able to experience the trilogy with like-minded fans...
H,
john was pretty verbose on the subject in the ROTK thread :) While I liked ROTK much more than he did, he raised valid points. I regret missing Trilogy Tuesday, but I could not go with a 9 month pregnant wife at home and moving the next week.
One of my larger cinematic regrets :frowning...
We have all sorts of acronyms for the films: MoS, FOTR, WiKi, etc
I remember the other bit I posted. I have NOT had a marathon, but I hope to. All I need is someone to watch my son for an entire weekend :) But I do plan on making this happen at some point. Having watched bits and pieces...
There were two parts to my initial post...
A collection of links to previous Discussion Threads:
Fellowship of the Ring
The Two Towers
Return of the King
There were numerous other threads (like Star Wars has) about Extended Edition reviews, DVD reviews, Trilogy Tuesday, etc. But those were...
I had a lovely long post :) Which then got eaten by the internet monster, and I posted a second post here. Which is this one :D
Can a mod help me? I posted a fairly lengthy post, which you can see the top of when you allow your mouse pointer to loiter over the thread, that is sadly missing...
