HTF REVIEW: Star Wars - Episode III: Revenge of the Sith

Initially, he seems a bit perplexed that Padme is pregnant. Eventually, though, he comes around, even calling their baby a blessing. So I think Anakin was concerned about his children.

HTF REVIEW: Star Wars - Episode III: Revenge of the Sith

Re: the 451236 viewing order and the Leia "surprise." If you watch it in this suggested order, isn't the surprise still preserved? You won't know that Leia is Luke's sister until you watch ROTS, and then ROTJ (next in viewing order) explains a bit about this.

HTF REVIEW: Star Wars - Episode III: Revenge of the Sith

If I had to kill my best friend, you bet your butt it would be hard for me to do. And if he was lying there all charred up, it would be VERY HARD to administer the coup de grace. VERY HARD INDEED. I would be tempted to just let him burn to death rather than have to finish him off.

HTF REVIEW: Star Wars - Episode III: Revenge of the Sith

I've yet to encounter anyone who thinks otherwise, though I have no doubt one such soul is out there (perhaps even reading this thread). :)

HTF REVIEW: Star Wars - Episode III: Revenge of the Sith

Doug: I honestly don't think ROTS could have been any better in its last hour with any other director. Lucas absolutely nailed it. The first hour was more stylistic, a bridge to the earlier movies. But what was there was done better, I think. The R2 stuff in the beginning, while styled the...

You do remember that Lucas wrote ANH, right?

David L: That was definitely in the theaters.

HTF REVIEW: Star Wars - Episode III: Revenge of the Sith

 I also noticed Anakin's little cry of anguish as he cuts down one of the separatists. Just gives him more humanity and, when coupled with his later tears on the balcony, just goes to show that his turn wasn't something he relished in or did too quickly. He still has good in him, but...

HTF REVIEW: Star Wars - Episode III: Revenge of the Sith

Kevin; I had a similar reaction to that scene last night. That was just an impossible situation, and Anakin made it out. Unreal strength and composure.

HTF REVIEW: Star Wars - Episode III: Revenge of the Sith

It might have worked better if they had been standing next to Sidious, and he suddenly pulls out his lightsaber and offs them very quickly. But, when the guy pulls out a lightsaber, monologues, then does a couple of flips over to where they are standing, it's not like they couldn't see it...

HTF REVIEW: Star Wars - Episode III: Revenge of the Sith

I had a WTF? moment with one shot in the movie. It's right after Mace leads the three other wimps into the Chancellor's office (my wife wondered how they went down so easily). The movie cuts from a straight on tracking shot of Mace, to Palpatine. Then it cuts back to a closer, static shot of...

HTF REVIEW: Star Wars - Episode III: Revenge of the Sith

This is a point that is also emphasized in the ROTS "making of" book.

HTF REVIEW: Star Wars - Episode III: Revenge of the Sith

Tim: I wouldn't say that ROTS looked sharper than AOTC. In fact, after watching the ROTS DVD only once, I thought AOTC had the better sharpness. But, maybe that's just me.

HTF REVIEW: Star Wars - Episode III: Revenge of the Sith

The wife and I watched ROTS last night, as well as the deleted scenes. First, the movie is just as wonderful, if not more so, in my home as it was on the big screen. As I said in my original review, ROTS has a wonderful mix of story elements, including tragedy, adventure, and love. I think...

HTF REVIEW: Star Wars - Episode III: Revenge of the Sith

Ahh...I am so glad I didn't watch these for AOTC or ROTS until the DVD came out. Adds a lot of value (for me) in the supplements.

HTF REVIEW: Star Wars - Episode III: Revenge of the Sith

I have to run all the SW DVDs about 25 percent above the normal decibel level for other movies. And at that sound level, the detail is amazing in all of them (especially the PT).

That IGN review of the movie was about what I expected when these are his opening sentences:

HTF REVIEW: Star Wars - Episode III: Revenge of the Sith

Luke taught Yoda about this in ESB. Yoda basically said that once you start down the dark path, there's no turning back. He even told Luke that this was true in Vader's life. So I think we can surmise that Anakin did indeed start down that path with the Tuskens in AOTC, and then things...

HTF REVIEW: Star Wars - Episode III: Revenge of the Sith

I agree. In fact, my wife thinks it is one of the best openings in all the SW movies, perhaps even rivalling the famous overhead opening shot in ANH.

HTF REVIEW: Star Wars - Episode III: Revenge of the Sith

Luke was also very close to turning in ROTJ, and only pulled back at the last minute. And yet, we all believe that Luke was very, very close to taking the same path his father did. It wasn't until the last minute that he pulled back, and even then he pulled back because his father had made...
