Yes, I've gone through the whole set...and as you said Ernest, the sun came up, although in SD, its getting kind of hard to tell, and other DVDs were released. I've moved on, they'll be there when I'm ready for them again, but I've shifted my SW focus to EP3.

David James, that was a wonderful post. As for the commentaries, I think I like the Empire one the best of the 3 because of Kerschner's involvement. As for Fisher, I don't think she did a bad job, its just that for me we didn't really hear a lot from her, and I'm not sure that if it were...

Watched the audio commentaries for each film, and the empire of dreams documentary, and now I'm watching A New Hope. I was hoping to hear more from Carrie Fisher on the commentaries, but practically everything I might have wanted to hear about from her was covered in the Empire of...

Speaking of that I had a whole joke read for how crotch kicking might be used to help fix the audio problems on this DVD. I'll spare everyone though. Going to grab a shower, than I'm off to get the DVDs.

Sadly, for me this is not even an option if it were I'd do it. In fact, there is a chance I might not get this set until the first of October. I'm taking a trip next Friday and need some funds for the trip. If I pick up SW on Tuesday there goes my funds for this trip, so it might have...

I'm getting tired of this audio argument. Neil, you told us to enjoy our flawd release, and yet whenever we try to enjoy it, you keep coming back and pointing out to us that the release is flawd. Please, just drop it. Seriously, the majority of people in this thread, and...

Jan, given your taste in basketball teams I already liked you, but now I have another reason. Oh do I hate that song!

Carlo, you might not have said it, but others have based the popularity of the originals based off of the number of signatures on that petition. I still think that if you put original theatrical versions on the shelf with 2004 special editions, the 2004 SE's outsell the Originals...

A couple of things... 1. I signed that petition, but signing it does not mean that I would only buy the pre-SE versions, nor was that the implication of the petition itself. B. There is no way I'd give Lucas a hundred bucks to help restore the originals, because I'd be doing that...

DVD Review *** Official HTF REVIEW & Discussion Thread: Star Wars Trilogy, pt. 1

This is one reason I prefer the special editions...but to each his own. I feel the same way, the only thing that keeps this from getting worse is that only people I know online have this set none of my friends that I hang out with around town have it yet, but I'm sure one of them...

Yep, Luca$ is all about the $$$. Here's the problem though, nobody said that the originals didn't exist anymore only that Luca$ doesn't have to feel obligated to release them, he can do as he wishes. We might not like it, but we're not going to call him a memory robbing, money...

This has had more bloodshed than most parties I've ever attended. The problem is that if you break it down, we are all in agreement. Even though there are a number of us that like the Special Editions, we all wish that the originals were released on DVD. The argument stems...

I'm sure he knows this, but he doesn't want to spend the extra money to achieve this goal, and so he's putting out what he wants, because he knows that a large number of people are going to buy it anyway. and people bought a ticket to see it in the theater, end of transaction...

DVD Review *** Official HTF REVIEW & Discussion Thread: Star Wars Trilogy, pt. 1

Your money bought you a ticket to see a show, and once it was over the transaction was over. The ticket did not guarantee you that those memories would last a life time or if they didn't that they'd replaced with a shiny new DVD to substitute for them. The product was the initial...

Kyle that was linked to on the previous page in this thread, but with all of the rehashing and walking around in the same circle we just walked, I can understand why someone might have missed it. I love that quote, sums it up pretty well I'd say. Now of course, we'll just...

Thanks for that interesting bit of news. I think the fact that there are no deleted sceens points to a far more definitive collection coming someday, probably on HD-DVD. Although, I have to again agree with Ricardo and say that I'd prefer a completed deleted sceens section, and not have them...

DVD Review *** Official HTF REVIEW & Discussion Thread: Star Wars Trilogy, pt. 1

His argument is completely valid, trying to call it invalid doesn't make it so. Your point was that on HTF its always the same people saying that they prefer the SEs. Ricardo's point is that the same can be said about those that prefer the originals. Its the same people arguing on...

Tony, thanks for that bit of humor, I really appreciated it. I'm jealous of those that have gotten it early, but that's sort of not under my control so I don't worry too much about it. Them getting it early won't stop me from enjoying it any less when I get it on Tuesday. Besides, if...

DVD Review *** Official HTF REVIEW & Discussion Thread: Star Wars Trilogy, pt. 1

While I agree with this, I think it is only fair to point out that posts like this where people tell others to move on only contribute to it being a broken record. Ron's post was brilliant and said everything that needed to be said, anything else in agreement with what he posted is contributing...

DVD Review *** Official HTF REVIEW & Discussion Thread: Star Wars Trilogy, pt. 1

I think the point that Brandon was trying to make was that one does not have to release the original trilogy on DVD to preserve them. Lucas, can very easily preserve the Original Theatrical Versions without ever releasing them in to the public. Sure, you'd think he'd want to release...

DVD Review *** Official HTF REVIEW & Discussion Thread: Star Wars Trilogy, pt. 1

Michael, thanks for the great review, can't wait to hold this set in my hands... ...I like the change in Vader's voice, I think it works. My favorite of the Trilogy is ANH. However, some of my favorite moments from the Trilogy come from ROTJ, which if not for the way too long...
