I'm not sure that was truly the case. I saw Empire on opening weekend and fully knew who Yoda was and what he looked like. Didn't the 'Empire Strikes Back Storybook' come out before the film? That had pictures of Yoda in it. And for that matter, I knew the 'No. I am your Father' twist before...

Here's a quote from the article: "I think the secret to the future is quantity," Lucas said. That speaks VOLUMES.

DAMN LUCAS RAPED MY CHILDHOOD!!!! Sorry, Dave. :D

Exactly. Could be lying, maybe not. I like it.

That's what I liked about Palpy's 'birth' speech. It didn't spell things out. Very ambiguous, and much is left for the viewer to ponder. The 'virgin' birth I've got no problem with.

Carlo, that's exactly how I feel about it. I just wasn't able to express it as well as you. Dave, I'm with you there, too. If midis work for others great. They don't for me. Just my feelings. There's no right or wrong and I'm certainly not trying to come across like I'm trying to change...

I was just referring to blood for simplicity because that's what Qui-Gon tested.

Good point, but I don't think it's as direct a connection in ESB and ROTJ as it is in TPM. Yeah, ESB and ROTJ implied that the Skywalker family was strong in the force, but to me that's still a far cry from saying you have to have midichlorians in your blood to be a Jedi. ESB and ROTJ...

But, see, it went from being something anyone with enough determination and study could achieve to something that you could not attain no matter how much you desired, studied, or trained unless your blood test came back positive.

If the PT ruined anything for me it was the Force itself. Obi-Wan's explanation of the Force in Star Wars (ANH) was perfect. Qui-Gon killed that in the PT for me. I have quite a few issues with the PT, especially TPM and to a lesser extent AOTC and even less so ROTS. But for the most part I...

Looks like the subtitles are really player generated. I was able to turn them off.

I've always felt that the OT turned out as good as it did BECAUSE of the limitations that Lucas had. Sometimes having limitations forces you to be creative. Now with computers, there's not limit in what you can put on screen and that's not necessarily a good thing.

Earlier in the thread there was speculation that the subtitles would be player generated. They are not. They're burned in to the black area below the picture.

Thanks. And on the same note I respect those who choose not to buy them. 'You must do what you feel is right, of course.' Now someone go get a bunch of hot chicks and we'll have a big group hug...... :D

You know, it's funny. On virtually every point I agree with those of you not buying these discs. I agree that the SEs changed the movies. I liked the SFX cleanup, but I despise most all of the changes that are regularly panned. I agree Lucas is full of crap that the originals are workprints. I...

I guess it's the same thing that makes other grown men continue to post in a thread for over four months about a DVD they have no intention on purchasing. ;)

Ron, I was just as angry as anyone else when I realized these discs would not be 16x9 enhanced. And like others I'm now caving and will buy these discs. I'm still upset that these discs will not be anamorphic, but the past few months have allowed me to look at this from a less emotional...

That statement actually covers MANY of the changes that Lucas DID make to the OT. I was amazed at the trivial changes that were actually made.

The SE, 2004, updated, or whatever-you-want-to-call-them editions of the movies are supposed to be EXACTLY the same as what was released in 2004. Hopefully there will be changes for the uber box set in 2007... and as Ricardo alluded to, there should be as that will be Lucas' hook for people to...

Forget fixing Luke's green saber on the Falcon in ANH, I'm just glad they found time to fix this glaring error in Jedi. It had been bothering me for the past 23 years! http://www.starwars.com/episode-vi/r...rld=episode-vi

This is from Bantha Tracks Newsletter Volume 2, number 4 from the Spring of 1980. Bantha Tracks: At one point there were going to be twelve Star Wars films. Lucas: I cut that number down to nine because the other three were tangential to the saga. Star Wars was the fourth story in the saga...

Mike, Lucas completely denies that he ever planned to do Episodes 7, 8, and 9. But I have an old issue Star Wars Bantha Tracks which has an interview with Lucas where he talks about Star Wars being a 12 film saga. Let me dig it out and I'll post that part of the interview.

After watching the opening crawl and Han Shooting first, I'll definately end up buying these. Yeah, the quality isn't what it could be, but it still looks better than any other OOT version I've owned before. In fact it looks better than I feared after all the talk of how crappy these will...
