This is a valid point. I have been saying for years that the show would have a lot more credibility if they had to write and perform their own songs. I think the show would be better, too.

Agreed. He's in a different league. His "yelling" or "screeching" will calm as he progresses toward the finals. I'm sure that in the hands of a good producer his recorded music will be very different from his Idol "going for it" stuff.
