I finally got one right. I said $15-20m tops for "Snakes" and it came in on the low end of my prediction. I just didn't think the general public was going to care about this flick and it looks like that was the case.

I don't think it will hit big at the BO at all. The TV spots do look ridiculous and everyone I know who has seen the trailer was just like "what the f**k"? I say it will do about $15-20m tops opening weekend.

I just don't like to see a film that I truly loved topped by a film that was a huge disappointment to me. I'm not saying it's right or that anyone has to agree with my sentiment, it's just how I feel.

It's called comedy and just because something might not strike you as funny doesn't mean it can't be enjoyed by millions of other people. Hell, I don't see what the big deal is about Monty Python movies, but some people think they're the greatest thing ever. Different strokes.

WOW! That is one helluva lineup for next summer. I counted 7 movies that I am definitely interested in seeing and there are a lot of others that I might want to check out once I know more about them. :emoji_thumbsup:

Just because he's not your cup of tea doesn't mean that millions of people didn't enjoy his particular brand of humor. It's a shame that his "glory days" seem to have passed because when he was on I think he was the funniest guy on the planet.

Gotta rank my favorite Carrey flicks(Note how all of them are from way back when he was a comedic genius): Dumb and Dumber Ace Ventura: Pet Detective Liar Liar Batman Forever Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls

Is Gibson acting in Apocalypto or just directing it?

Ugh. Even mentioning "Fun with Dick and Jane" makes me nauseous.........what a horrible piece of s**t that movie was. I remember when Carrey used to be my favorite comedic actor hands down, but Will Farrell and Steve Carrell have blown way past him IMHO.

Maybe great is too strong a word meaning it wasn't GoodFellas or Pulp Fiction, but I still believe it was VASTLY superior to the sequel. Just my humble opinion.

There is a much better case for the first SW film in 16 years to make $400m+ than there is for a sequel that's vastly inferior to the original film of just 3 years ago, but again it is what it is. I didn't think it would make anywhere near this much money and clearly I have been proven wrong...

There's no way this flick should've made that much money, but it is what it is and I'll just have to accept it. I wouldn't have any problem if the first one made $400m because it was a GREAT film, but this one just doesn't deserve that kind of box office IMHO. Then again, neither did Shrek 2 so...

I think it will probably open right around $20-25m, $30m at most. It probably won't even gross $100m domestic, but none of Mann's films have ever been huge commercial blockbusters so it certainly won't be the first time. However, since this flick reportedly cost $125-150m to make I'm sure the...

Well, I saw Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest and didn't think it was very good either, but that hasn't stopped it from earning $330m to date. Also, while you might not have liked Vice it's getting pretty good reviews from the critics(positive write-ups in TIME, Variety, Newsweek...

There would be no point in doing that. They'll make as much and probably more selling/renting this movie on DVD than they would in B.O. receipts. Besides, even if they announced they were going to do that it still wouldn't come close to Titanic's $600m.

All of the early reviews I've read so far are VERY positive. This is my most anticipated movie of the summer and Mann has never disappointed in the past so I'll definitely be seeing Vice next week.

Totally disagree. They Special Editions are still the same films as the originals only with a few minor changes(mostly effects shots) so the they absolutely should should be counted together for B.O purposes in my opinion.

At this point, I think it's almost an absolute certainty that SR won't reach $200 million domestic. I never thought it would perform so badly, but it looks like the film is going to end up being a big disappointment financially even though it was critically well received. It's like the bizarro...

Personally, I think DMC is doing so well because the first one was so good, not because it's actually a good film itself. Again, Terry's Shrek 2 anaolgy applies here. Shrek 2 wasn't half as good as the first one, but it made more money because everyone had to see the sequel to such a great film...

    2006 at the Box Office

That's fine, but I'm entitled to my opinion and I thought the movie was a huge disappointment especially after the first one which was so fantastic. I have no idea what the public sees in this film, but like Terry said the same thing happened with Shrek 2 so I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

    Great comparison, Terry.

    2006 at the Box Office

Not me. I didn't think Dead Man's Chest was anywhere near as good as the first film and frankly the box office numbers are beyond puzzling to me. I guess everyone is going to see it because they're like me and they loved the first one, but as for the film itself I found it to be a major...

Just got back from seeing Pirates and honestly I can't imagine a lot of repeat business for this flick. It was entertaining enough, but WAAAAAY too long and certainly not as good as the first film IMHO. I also didn't find Depp as entertaining this time around(his performance in the first one is...

I'll gladly offer up that wager to anyone at any time. There's absolutely ZERO chance that Pirates will equal or surpass Sith's $380m domestic gross. If I had to put a number on it right now I'd say that it will top out at about $310-325m domestic which is very impressive, but it ain't good...

    2006 at the Box Office

That's blasphemy, mate. Besides, while Pirates may have taken the single day record there's no way it will match Episode III's $380m total haul.
  29. Brent M

    2006 at the Box Office

I don't think there's any way SR is grossing $43m next weekend. In fact, it might only do about half that going up against Pirates which should be HUGE. I can see Pirates doing anywhere from $75-90m and business like that will bury every other movie out there. I honestly don't see any way SR...

    2006 at the Box Office

I honestly think the box office numbers will have a HUGE drop-off next weekend with the opening of Pirates. I also think SR will have a tough time reaching $200m domestically which is a total shock. I thought this would be a $250-300m grossing film easily, but apparently I overestimated the...
