If you upgraded your computer from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 it's likely you need the "Launch Manager." From what I'm reading that's what provides function key use on your model.
Here's the direct link...
Does your system have a "Fn" key? If so, try Fn+PrtSc. I that works it means the Function key operation is now opposite of what it once was. If that works... you'll either have a "hotkey" switch (usually ESC + Fn - if so there's usually a "lock" icon on the ESC key), a vendor supplied...
Irfanview. Just watch the installer and uncheck the add-in/piggyback apps that are not needed. The last time I checked they'd dumped all the piggyback junk but you never know.
You also want to select "Images only" on the file types selection screen or it'll take over your media files and...
It's just another "flavor" of Linux. There are several distributions around. Some GUIs look like OS-X, some look like Windows, some look like neither. But many differnet GUIs are available on many different flavors of Linux (you pick the one you like during install and can change it later if...
You're welcome, Tony! I hate that you were unable to get things working without a visit to a repair shop. At least the quote they gave you is fairly reasonable and hopefully they'll charge at the low end.
Last option - and it's a bit drastic.
I found that video you reference. It doesn't look too bad... but is a pain. If you go that route be careful with the ribbon connectors as they can be damaged easily if pulled in the wrong direction. Some have a metal lock plate that keeps them in place...
Wow! That's a new one... But I mostly deal with corporate builds and they don't have the issues you've seen by simply changing mode. Basically - getting into the BIOS is never an issue and it's sometimes required to change some of those settings for imaging systems.
Anyway... with luck the...
Do you have a SATA to USB adapter?
Here are a few inexpensive ones:

You should be able to get into the BIOS with no drive installed/attached. You may be pressing F2 a bit too late. Start tapping the key (don't hold it down - do a press of the key every half second or so) as soon as you turn it on.
What's happening is there's an OS on that HD and with the BIOS...
OK... If you have that USB drive plugged in when you boot and get the NTLDR error - boot without it being plugged in. It's possible the system *is* trying to boot that drive and it's just not set properly for the way the BIOS is configured. You can verify your USB drive by removing the HD from...
What you're seeing is normal on some systems when you switch from UEFI to Legacy. BUT - you should be able to get into the BIOS and switch it back at which point it should start properly. It's possible that model uses a different key to get into the BIOS. Try F10 and/or "esc" as well. If you...
Change back to UEFI and try again.
If the disk/USB booted before it should still be able to boot. You may want to try creating the media again:

If you didn't delete the original partition on the new HD during the install - then go back into the BIOS and switch it back to UEFI mode (disable the "legacy" setting you changed), boot the OS installer, *delete* the existing partition (actually all/any partitions shown unless one has recovery...
I checked some drives on Amazon.ca and found one I'd recommend without reservation:

It's ~$50 CA - quite reasonable for a 500GB "spinning...
I had the following ready for you in case you needed it... but based on what I've read following my last post yesterday I'd agree with Acer support. It sounds like the HD has failed. BUT I find it odd that you can't get into BIOS or get a repair type boot started with the drive bad. Of course...
OK... sounds like you may have had an update go awry. If you've not let it sit in this state for at least an hour (MS says sometimes it can take several hours. I *have* seen it take 45min to 1 hr on some of our servers. It's quite disconcerting when a server does that!) then wait, have some...
Ha! If I actually did that mine would be running XP! JK - I actually grew to like Win7 and, shocker, am getting used to 10 but absolutely don't like many aspects of that OS. I have my wife on 7 Pro right now (I think - I rarely have to touch hers as she finally started listening to what I say...
FWIW, there is an option to reinstall Windows on top of the current install without it removing your data. You still have to reinstall apps but the personal files/data is, supposedly, safe. I've never done one of those as it's just as easy, and IMHO, a better option to back up your stuff and...
I agree with John. Uninstall the crapware called "Tech Utilities" (most of those are geared to scare you into paying for a "solution" that either you don't truly need or that won't fix your issue). Then do a system restore, using the most recent one before you started having your graphics...
Tony, your issue sound like it could be a graphics driver update that's failed or not working properly. Here's how to check if an update has been installed and how to roll it back if an older driver is available.
Click "Start"
Scroll down to "Windows Administrative Tools"
Select "Computer...
^As odd as it might sound, a firmware update could correct your issue.

That's a pretty old printer so you may already have the latest firmware. Here's how to check the...
