No. I meant he never, ever gets to take a break from being Superman. That's what I hate about Superman II, it kills him as a character. He becomes all-the-time policeman of the world (or at least that what he vows to the president)
Because he never, ever, ever gets to take a day off. He shouldn't even get to be Clark Kent, much less have a love life.
(SIII totally ignores that conclusion, one of the handful of things I like about it)
Speaking of R4, has anyone heard anything more about the commentary on Superman IV?
Ezydvd still says "Commentary by screenwriters Lawrence Konner and Mark Rosenthal," while R1 only gets Rosenthal...
Who wants book learnin'!
The first thing I thought when I saw that "juvenile" was Alan Moore's recent "Lost Girls."
On topic--that opening looks great. I always loved the Daily Planet scenes.
DVD active now has up detailed pictures of the package.
I believe salivating is the more appropriate word... I think I know how I'm spending my winter vacation.
I agree with both of those--even though I think, baring HELLBOY, SUPERMAN RETURNS is the only good superhero movie since... SUPERMAN: THE MOVIE--I kept waiting for someone to mention how silly the power outage was. Looked great though.
IV wouldn't have had the same effects team and with III I think they were still using the crane for take-offs, something SUPERMAN RETURNS couldn't get right.
Maybe they'll be something about it in the newly produced SIII and SIV Deluxe Edition documentaries... oh, wait, no, there won't be...
Now... wait a second. Does this mean if I get the CR Collection, Warner might do a double-dip on Superman IV next year?
Because I can't handle a double-dip on Superman IV. No way.
(Yes, I realize this "deluxe" single-disc edition is a double-dip)
I think it's been well-covered LucasFilm is in charge of the Star Wars DVDs, not the STUDIO (Fox).
As for the new ending... they had to do something. When Donner left they still hadn't figured one out. (I was never sure why she couldn't know he was Superman)
For the time being, that is correct. It will not be included in the Christopher Reeve boxset.
If there's some bigger set including SUPERMAN RETURNS, it may be included in that set (no one knows).
IMDB picked up the "iffy" SR sequel talk (weeks after TMZ said Warner scuttlebutt is $200 mil or no sequel) and, if there isn't one, I can't see Warner bothering to double-dip on the DVD...
