"A CHRISTMAS CAROL/SCROOGE" 1951 Alastair Sim on DVD

I am truly excited about this. I can't wait to see the transfer! I for one will be sticking with the original full frame black and white version. The other two versions will go unwatched, at least by me. I've seen the colorized version on network television, and I really wasn't impressed. Sounds...

"A CHRISTMAS CAROL/SCROOGE" 1951 Alastair Sim on DVD

Amazing news!! It truly is Christmas in July. lol. I'm a little puzzled by the 16x9 enhancement as well, but as Mike said, if the original full frame black & white version is on there, then it's all good. I worry though because I've never seen any of the previous VCI releases here in Canada. I'm...

"A CHRISTMAS CAROL/SCROOGE" 1951 Alastair Sim on DVD

Thanks for the head's up!! I hope they finally do right by this movie once and for all. I think we've had enough sub-par releases to last us a lifetime. I'm anxious to see the end result!

"A CHRISTMAS CAROL/SCROOGE" 1951 Alastair Sim on DVD

Thanks for the input Andrew. Like I said I was really dismayed when I popped the disc into my player and skipped through the chapters. How they can call this "restored" is beyond me. Had this not been a spur of the moment purchase, I definitely would've researched it before buying it. It's weird...

"A CHRISTMAS CAROL/SCROOGE" 1951 Alastair Sim on DVD

Two days ago I bought the "Emerald Edition" of this movie. This is last year's Canadian release Andrew Budgell spoke about on the 2nd page of this thread. I decided to skip through the chapters to get an idea of the picture quality. The only other release I had to compare it to was Morningstar...

"A CHRISTMAS CAROL/SCROOGE" 1951 Alastair Sim on DVD

I got my hopes up when I saw this thread too. Oh well. lol I really hope we see a re-release by next year. This movie is a Christmas Eve tradition in my family. It would have been a real treat to see a restored version of it.

"A CHRISTMAS CAROL/SCROOGE" 1951 Alastair Sim on DVD

Now the question is, will this be made available in North America? I have a version by Canadian distributor 'Morningstar Entertainment' which looks just ghastly. This is by far my favorite version of "A Christmas Carol". I would love to be able to own a top quality version.
