Biblical-Roman-Egyptian epics not yet on Blu-ray

Some time ago, I spent a few days at the Herrick library out here in LA reading and transcribing the revised shooting script for Fall of the Roman Empire held in the Paramount Pictures scripts file. There was a lot removed from the final cut: More stuff with the Barbarian girl Helva, the...

I've got my preorder locked in, so fingers crossed for at least something of an improvement of prior releases.

It was even earlier than that. In one of the special features on the blu-ray, it's said that the outtakes were junked by around 1967. The little snippets of footage we see in the documentary are just the slates from the footage used in the final print, so there's no extant footage out there of...

When I say "cost," I'm mainly referring to any restoration or cleanup WAC would have to do before they release it on blu-ray. My DVD copy from nearly 20 years ago already looked pretty rough for the time, so I imagine whatever print Warner still has on hand requires even more care now.

And they gave it a pretty lavish release, too. There's a ton of interviews and features on that set.

My copy arrived this afternoon and it's playing without a hitch on my 10+ year old Sony BRD player as I write this. Interestingly, the special features are not available on my Region A player. Very interesting that the manufacturer region locks certain things. EDIT: the copy of 55 Days at...

Doing a little "filmed in Spain" program of films this week, and was watching Solomon and Sheba. It got me wondering if there's ever been any news on what became of the footage shot with Tyrone Power as Solomon before his untimely death? All I've ever seen are the scant few minutes in this...

Wasn't Scorsese's group Film Foundation responsible for the restoration of the movies in the boxset?

The scarcity factor regarding The Big Fisherman makes me very curious in someday seeing a high-def version. The extant version out there on the internet now is akin to watching smudges on a broken kitchen window, with 20-80 vision, and you've forgotten your glasses.
