"It's also pretty snobby to think that just because someone doesn't like her, it must be because of her looks. " No, it's logical since the original thought was that people like her because of her looks.
*Sigh*. The Monheit version is vocally quite distinctive, and Kat copied the phrasings exactly in many places.
Sorry, didn't sound very unusual to me.
Huh? Anyway, Chris will get to do his boring forgettable Fuel style "rock" now. Kat isn't boring as long as she can do her style of...
Exactly. Regardless of the variation of Rainbow, it still sounds relatively like the song we all know. However, Live's version of "I walk the Line" is a radical departure from the original and was notable to say the least.
Rainbow has been performed/recorded countless times in many arrangements. Even Clapton has done the song. I don't think it becomes relevant at that point.
I don't think that it's necessary to bring up arrangements for standards. However when you have a song that hasn't been done in a wide variety of ways and a very different arrangement is used and the AI performer gets credit - well that's different. It's fine to perform the arrangement, but...
it's certainly not shocking and he mostly certainly was not robbed of anything. Frankly, though I do think he has talent for rock, his monotone voice got him farther than he really should have given this type of contest. The better singers remain on the show.
Elliot: 1 - started iffy, but he "worked it out" 2 - very good Chris: 1 - so-so 2- awful - awful Taylor: 1 - typical fun - a lot of energy - decent overall 2 - very good Katherine: 1 - fun, but a little too fast - she should have kept the tempo of the clip they showed - overall ok 2-...
It is obvious that something is up with her, so I don't think that members here or anywhere else are being hard on her. I don't think that it's snobbish to be average -which calamari, salmon and "ballsy' all fall under. These are not highbrow terms used in the ranks of American's upperscale...
Bucky - It was ok. He has improved and maybe he is at the level of where they scout at cities. Ace - Horrible. Kellie - I suppose ok, but then again the essence of the song, wasn't performed. Chris - As with Kellie, hearing a short version without the integral middle sections...
Ace Young, We Will Rock You NO WAY he and tha cheesy falsetto can pull it off •Bucky Covington, Fat Bottomed Girls I can't imagine him doing anything that isn't countrified, so maybe if does a fun arrangement, he can actually survive another week - big IF. •Chris Daughtry...
Of course they can't compare. If you expect to be anything like the real thing, just don't watch, because even a good performance will fall, way way short.
It is, but FOX has been irritating me with the 9pm broadcast when it should be at 8 (isn't it a family show?) Since I set the dvr for LOST and AI is not going to change that for me. I have actually video taped the past couple results show and watched it later old school.
I mentioned in the music thread, that is there any doubt that Bucky won’t do “Crazy little thing called love?” Though he and Kellie are probably fighting over that one. This is a great week for Chris, since Queen has so many all out rockers, but Queen has many difficult quirky songs that will be...
Mandisa is talented, but it's no surprise to me. The superficial aspects and the tv BS has propped up Kellie and luck has propped up Bucky, but that's just the way it goes. My favorites are Talor and Katherine, but I don't expect them to win and part of me would rather see them go soon and get a...
Kellie is over rated and her mediocre performances should catch up with her. Additionally they "confronted" the dumb blonde routine by... well doing a dumb blonde routine. Taylor's performance was bad, but he is usually very fun to watch and would like to see him do more of something that is...
Katherine looked surprised, but does that mean she has some unreasonable ego? I would be upset if I were there and I got put in the bottom as opposed to rejects from the movie Duets, like Pickler and Bucky. It would be comical if not a sad representation of what makes America tick. The...
There is no way that Katherine should have been there, but we are getting down to the top ones, so weird vote splitting may skew results. She did a fine job with a boring contemporary pop ballad. I'm assuming we will hear Chris do I walk the line again... uh yeah. Maybe he'll rock with...
Chris was good as usual, but I’m tired of him getting credit for others’ versions – last week they praised “his” version of Higher Ground and now praising him for doing Live’s version of I walk the line (yes it is Live’s version and it is on their best of). Katherine was great. She was a...
Always, always keep in mind that this is a television program meaning the one and only priority of the producers is to get and maintain viewers for ratings to sell the program to advertisers. given the ratings that the show gets and the stake involved, I would not be surprised if the...
Taylor: Great fun to watch and listen to as usual. I doubt he'll win it all, but he might be the first one that I might actually want to buy a cd of. Chris: I agree with the praise for his vocals, but as mentioned he did the Chili Peppers( and did it decent). Katherine: She looked...
He's my favorite too The first one where I would consider buying an album from... however it would probably be better if he got booted close to the end and got an independent (non Idol) record deal.. look at Bo... they Idolized him and sucked the soul right out of him... and he proved it with...
I laugh out loud by her statements every week, but unlike Carrie, she has charisma and can move (albeit not much) on stage_. However my favorite of the ladies is Katherine. She has a soulful voice and picked a song to show it off (as with the first week) unlike the other boring balladeers...
So true. She had to be wasted. When I first heard that totally off the wall comment, I did a double take.. ??? That made no sense and then kept putting her head down and was giggly (more than usual. the network executives had to be worried.
I have rea l hard time with her. I just don't buy it. Her thick accent and ridiculously naive statements are just comical to me. Waht's worse is how blatently the show is pushing her on us. It's really irritating. As mentioned many times, an awful night and someone needs to tell them to stop...
