What's New was one of several titles that didn't see the light of day on 7/30. Not only that, I haven't seen any indication anywhere that the title will, in fact, be released. No future street date, no pre-orders, nothing whatsoever. The Bonnie Raitt disc (from EMI) was also supposed to be...
Warner Brothers has evidently released an e-mail newsletter regarding some upcoming 2002 DVD-A releases. Some folks over at the Hi-Rez Highway section of the Audio Asylum site were nice enough to post the newsletter, so I thought I'd reprint it here:
"Check Out What The Future Holds...
F**k, F**k, and triple F**k!!!
Queen A Night at the Opera DVD-A has been postponed again, this time to February 5!
:angry: :angry: :angry:
From all the signs I've seen on the internet, this is a popular title. DTS originally offered an excuse for the first delay on this, but what's it going...
And even more delays: :angry:
Grover Washington Winelight March 26, 2002
Randy Newman Little Criminals March 26, 2002
This is from the Rhino site, which also has completely dropped any listing of the Van Morrison DVD-A.
Sure could use some new title announcements, seeing as how its...
More delays: :frowning:
From Digital Audio Guide:
EMI Music Distribution has scheduled three DVD-Audio releases for February 12, 2002:
Al Green Greatest Hits
Eric Johnson Ah Via Musicom
Dave Koz The Dance
Michael, The Captain & Me was originally announced as a December 18 release, so the January 8 date is a change. I don't think anyone will be surprised by the delay, however.
Heck, I was kinda shocked that Hotel California was actually released on time! ;)
DVD Planet is now listing the DVD-A of the
Doobie Brothers The Captain & Me
for release on 1/8/2. That's a change in the release date, but I've certainly learned that online e-tailers are a different breed from B&M and so the disc might show up earlier.
Even more confusing: I've...
Well, well, well!!!
Looks like my DVD Planet order for the Eagles' Hotel California DVD-A shipped out on 12/08! Looks like I shouldn't have been such a doubting thomas! :D
Now the wait begins...
By the way, not too sure if anyone else has noticed, but the USPS has fallen waaaaay behind in...
DVD Audio World has the Van Morrison Moondance DVD-A postponed until February 26, 2002. No mention of Randy Newman's Little Criminals, but it's a sure bet that it's been postponed until 2/26/2 (at least). :frowning:
Thanks for the info on DVD-Audio Preview. I had a feeling it wasn't kept up-to-date.
I knew about Rhino, but if their track record for accurate release dates is as you say, what does that mean for
Randy Newman Little Criminals [January 29]
Van Morrison Moondance [January 29]
both of which...
I've only been investigating new DVD-A titles for a few weeks now, so I have to ask if anyone has noticed when (approximately) the DVD-Audio Preview for Warner Brothers titles updates its listing?
I just checked the site, and they don't have any December releases posted. And am I reading too...
Some online e-tailers have "officially" added these two titles:
Doobie Brothers Captain & Me [December 18]
Billy Cobham Spectrum [December 18]
It's my understanding that titles are only added when word is received from the releasing company that the titles are available for pre-order (as...
As noted in the thread for Queen's A Night At The Opera DVD-A, this title has been pushed to January 2002.
To quote the little guy after the credits of Buffy The Vampire Slayer:
Urrrrggg!
Arrrrggg!
:angry:
According to DVD Empire, some of the 11/20 DVD-A titles have been bumped:
Carly Simon No Secrets 11/20 -> 12/04
Queen A Night At The Opera 11/20 -> 01/15
The site does not show a delay for the DVD-A of Workingman's Dead by the Grateful Dead, but I wouldn't be surprised if it has been pushed...
I don't really know which record companies have agreed to release DVD-A titles. I know that EMI is testing the waters in December (if those titles street when they're supposed to), and I believe someone else mentioned that MCA/Universal will be releasing both DVD-A and SACD titles. Of course...
Under the category of "it's a slow Saturday morning and there's nothing else to do" (and possibly "complete waste of time"), I thought I'd post some suggestions for possible future DVD-A titles. I know it doesn't make much difference in the grand scheme of things, but what the hey.
Since...
DVDPlanet.com just added this new DVD-A title:
Hootie and the Blowfish Cracked Rear View for release on December 11, 2001 (same day as Hotel California).
Mind you, I'm just keeping tabs on the rock/pop titles, since jazz doesn't appear to me and I'm only interested in a handful of classical...
The more I seek out DVD-A titles, the more I find inconsistencies among retailers or the discs. So far, DVD Planet has good reductions on pre-ordered titles (approximately 30%), and they hold that price until the Sunday before the title is released. There are some problems with the...
DVD Empire just added this new DVD-A release:
Eagles Hotel California December 11, 2001
I think we knew this was coming, but it's nice to see a date attached to it!
Looks like there's been some changes in the release schedule (to no one's real surprise):
Foreigner 4 available now
Eric Clapton Reptile 11/06 -> 11/13
Bjork Vespertine 11/06 -> 11/13*
Miles Davis Tutu postponed
The Best of Warner Brothers Sound FX 11/06 -> 11/13 What is this? The fifth or...

Thanks for those suggestions. The titles you cited, however, are (to the best of my knowledge) DVD video titles and not pure DVD-Audio titles. I know that DTS Entertainment has released a 5.1 DTS CD of the "Hell Freezes Over" concert, but I don't believe it's a 24/96 DVD-A title...
I just got a DVD-A player (Toshiba 4700) for the first time and I'm going nuts over the sound coming out of my speakers. I'm naturally hungry for more titles, but they seem to be rather scarce and thinly spread over a wide variety of styles.
Finding new upcoming titles is a bit tricky as well...
