He definitely was a power leecher rather than a power sharer (except with his sister, at the end). It's why Hiro is the former master of time and space.
I don't contest any of Dave's criticisms of the finale; it's just that my bar was set so low by that point that I didn't expect any better...
The finale made it clear that the answer to my question is "yes."
Not at all a bad finale; certainly much better than I'd feared going into it. While the flash forward clearly was laying the groundwork for another volume of "Heroes", should NBC have been interested, the main body of the...
One thing I've wondered about is what happens to people in an aborted timeline; Right now, it looks like Erika's going to succeed in sending her chosen 20,000 or so into the future. If she does, and Tommy and Malina subsequently succeed in averting the calamity, do those people in the future of...
The Earth's magnetic poles reverse on average every 450,000 years. The last one occurred 780,000 years ago, so statistically speaking, we're long overdue. Some theorize that these geomagnetic reversals are linked to mass extinctions on Earth, but the evidence is mixed on that. The amount of time...
Thanks for your kind words, Josh!
Parkman was never an ill-intentioned character in the original run, but he was a pretty stupid and useless one. I believed that he's the kind of person that could be manipulated by Erika into joining her cause. After all, he knows she's not lying about the end...
Just caught up with Thursday's episode. Now that was a cliffhanger.
Much like "Company Man" in the first season of the mothership, "Company Woman" went a long way toward humanizing our antagonist. But whereas the former episode was our first big step on the journey from villain to anti-hero...
Yes, it was designed as a one-off with the potential for more if viewer interest was especially high. But one-and-done was always the expectation.
I'm gonna stick with it to the end, but it's not one I'll especially mourn when it's gone.
The original timeline had the original Noah using Hiro to send the twins back, which resulted in the same chain of events that led to "Tommy" having Hiro's powers. In the new timeline, the Noah from the future accomplished the same thing the original Noah did in the original timeline, with the...
The writing in last night's episode stood out as particularly bad to me, for whatever reason. I will say that the flash forward thousands of years into the future, with the video game character come to life stalking through a desert wasteland, perked up my interest again.
But as things stand...
Given that Claire died in childbirth, it appears that his power-stealing ability didn't activate until birth. If Malina was the older twin, it would explain why he didn't steal her power. The fact that "Tommy" didn't have healing powers supports Angela's assertion that he can only hold onto one...
I don't think it's so much that they're worse than earlier seasons of the show, it's that they're no better than earlier seasons of the show and the state of the art (even for television) has advanced so much in the last five years that it no longer lives up to our expectations.
Compare...
Definitely lots of fun Back to the Future, Part II style hijinks with Noah and Hiro crossing their 2014 timelines. I like that at this point in the story Hiro has gotten really good at his powers.
The reveal with the origins of Tommy/Nathan and Malina was very Star Wars-y.
My two complaints...
I can definitely see that criticism. A lot of the characters in the original series felt like superheroes at the start of their origin stories. The characters in "Reborn" feel more like mutants in a Sentinel-controlled future, scrappy little underdogs that don't generate much confidence that...
The reveal that both Molly Walker and the nameless protector of Tommy are part of this grand plan was enough to keep me hooked for the remainder of the run. Hopefully the payoff for "Heroes Reborn" is more satisfying than the payoff for the otherwise great first season of the original show.
.
Adair Tishler, the original actress to play Molly Walker, is 19. while the new actress Francesca Eastwood just turned 22 last month. Given that the "new" Molly is believable as 19, it pretty much tracks.
Well, the first two episodes aired tonight. I was surprised how much it felt like the same old show. To a certain degree, that's a bad thing because the state of television has come a long way in the last five and a half years. But mostly, it was a good thing, because everything I loved about...
NBC's release for the first two episodes, airing back to back two weeks from tomorrow:
Eve Harlow was terrific on "The 100" last season. Francesca Eastwood (yes, Clint's daughter) is playing:
Character motion posters:
Carlos (Embrace who you are):
Molly (Sacrifice what you must):
Noah (Forget what you know):
Malina (Save what you can):
Tommy (Unleash what you are):
Joanne (Hunt what you hate):
Luke (Avenge what you lost):
Miko (Protect who you love)...
The one thing I remember about Matt Parkman was that he had to be the single stupidest character to ever be able to read people's minds. And this goes back to the first season, which I loved. The show made a big deal out how his problem was dyslexia. No, his problem was that he was a moron.
I...
The second season tried to do something different, with a lot of back story on the shadowy powers that be, but because of the writers strike got chopped down to eleven episodes. And then coming back for the third season, they faced a lot of criticism that the second season was all build up with...
I agree, except I thought the first season of the original show was really good. They just never figured out where to go from there. Hopefully the intervening several years have given them time to come up with a story worth telling in this universe.
I agree. I also kind of hope they keep the same concept and maybe the same universe but don't bring back any of the original characters as main characters. The first season was an excellent season of television, but the subsequent three seasons muddled things so much it'd probably be better to...
