I don't know what to tell you, man. Brains are weird. Mine goes to bizarre places all the time.

Road to Endgame Revisit #13: If Avengers: Age of Ultron let the spectacle outpace the characterization, let the needs of the multi-film arcs overwhelm the needs of that specific film, then Ant-Man arrived a few months later to close out Phase Two as a real palette cleanser. It's the antithesis...

No surprise, but Peyton Reed is in negotiations to direct Ant-Man and the Wasp. I really hope it works out. I'd be interested to see what an Ant-Man movie that Reed develops from scratch looks like.

Love that title. It plays into the pulpy fun of the first film. Hopefully they're able to get Michael Douglas back as Hank Pym. The interplay between those core three characters was at the heart of the film. On the fence about whether I want Michael Peña and Tip "T.I." Harris back for the...

The logic of the shrinking makes sense to me, but if they ever dive into the flip side of the Pym Particles with Giant Man and the like, it starts to get much dicier. In my mind, the Pym Particles work like the bottle and cake from Alice in Wonderland, and that's as far I let myself think about it.

I really enjoyed Guardians of the Galaxy, both for the tone and the A-Team-esque combination of unconventional (and combustible) personalities and different sets of skills. But Ant-Man's advantage is that it's grounded in a world close enough to our own for me to suspend my disbelief to the...

I was finally able to get to a theater and see this yesterday. If you told me at the beginning of the year that I'd like Ant-Man far better than the Avengers sequel, I'd have laughed you right out of the room. As my prior posts in this thread and elsewhere indicate, I was heavily skeptical of...

Your point and Jonathan's point are not mutually exclusive. The fact that James Gunn went out of his way to say good things about the film bodes well for it, but I don't think it's out-of-bounds to note that Gunn is hardly a neutral observer. He's operating in the heart of the Marvel machine...

I agree with you about Thor: The Dark World feeling like a franchise placeholder, but I wouldn't put Iron Man 3 in that category. I have my problems with it, mainly with how the humor ran amuck over the storytelling, but I think it's exactly the film Shane Black and Marvel wanted it to be. If...

I really like the look of the film, but that's not a surprise since Peyton Reed has always been a visually talented director. What worries me is the screenplay credit: the only people credited are Adam McKay, whose prior screenwriting resume consists entirely of stupid comedies and who was...

Whatever the movie does turn out to be will have to compete with everybody's imaginings of how great Wright's Ant-Man would have been.Unless it turns out to be an absolute home run, it'll never live up to the hypothetical, composed of each fanboy's desires of what the film should have been.

I must be the only one who really enjoys Iron Man 2. I'd easily rank it above both Thor movies as well as Iron Man 3.The Hollywood Reporter: Adam McKay in Talks to Direct 'Ant-Man'The director of mostly Will Ferrell movies, including both Anchorman movies, Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky...

Kevin Feige is the real driving creative force behind the whole Marvel Cinematic Universe, and he does have to keep his eye on all of the moving parts while the director only has to worry about his one. But just as one can lose sight of the forest for the trees, I'm afraid Feige might be in...

It seems like Marvel's really forgetting the lesson that made it successful in the first place: Hire the right filmmakers for the job, and trust them.So far, Captain America: The Winter Soldier has been the only Phase 2 film to knock it out of the park. And as much as I love some of their work...
