Pre-Order Oklahoma! (1955) Platinum Edition (Blu-ray) Available for Preorder

Are you even debating the ability of a UHD Blu-ray player to output a 4K 24Hz signal when it is part of the HDMI standard that all UHD players support? Indeed ALL UHD players I have ever encountered from half a dozen manufacturers do that and I doubt you will find one that doesn't. For others...

Pre-Order Oklahoma! (1955) Platinum Edition (Blu-ray) Available for Preorder

There is a real UHD 24Hz output setting in the OPPOs, this is different from the DVD 24fps setting that I think you are talking about. Even so I am not sure if the OPPO or other player would apply the DVD 24fps setting to non-DVD content. It is important to set the resolution to 4K/UHD as only...

I remember those days - I think a bunch of scaler manufacturers reprogrammed their units accordingly.

Pre-Order Oklahoma! (1955) Platinum Edition (Blu-ray) Available for Preorder

I guess you caught me there when I was cutting too many corners to point out that one can go from 24 to 60 but it should have been fields and not frames :) On the disc there are indeed only 30 full frames but the output is 60 half-frames that are called fields or actually it is only 29.970 /...

Pre-Order Oklahoma! (1955) Platinum Edition (Blu-ray) Available for Preorder

Looks simple enough to me as there is no 2/3 sequence necessary, just straight doubling of each frame. With an OPPO player you could even set it to 4k 24 output and it would output Oklahoma! at 30fps as that is what the OPPO does with 60fps content when set to 4K 24 knowing that 24fps would...

Pre-Order Oklahoma! (1955) Platinum Edition (Blu-ray) Available for Preorder

Gemini Man is the other 4K 60 release. Oklahoma! would be the first 4K 60 release that I am interested in because of the movie.

Pre-Order Oklahoma! (1955) Platinum Edition (Blu-ray) Available for Preorder

Please re-read my post, it is not about a 60 fps movie but a way to bring to us a 30fps movie via a 60fps medium. NTSC DVDs also have 60 frames per second and they are rarely considered to only be suitable for Showscan movies.

Pre-Order Oklahoma! (1955) Platinum Edition (Blu-ray) Available for Preorder

It would have been easier to have 30 and 48fps support in the UHD format but it should be possible to release 30 fps titles in 4k 60 by simply frame doubling when going from 30 to 60 frames. Might be a learning curve to get there with the usual encoders but it would be an elegant solution and...
