Agreed, the UI looks a bit dated but I have a hard time imagining an update that will give me the same amount of information and customization on the same screen real estate so I am choosing function over form.
What I usually do is that I browse on my ipad when I am in the room with the movies...
If I had to guess it was an iOS update. Has happened to me with a bunch of apps that have stopped working at some point.
Sometimes it is possible to reboot everything and things start working again and then next I would try to first deinstall dvdprofiler, reboot the phone and install it again...
Agreed, the price was a steal.
I would rather pay some regular fee for it and have an Android app that is not so ugly and limited in functionality - I use the filters and different views extensively on the desktop and the lack of options and configurability is frustrating.
In any case it is...
Very good point, I did not think about that as it has been so long I last installed it! I guess that it is good that I am using DVD Profiler on a virtual machine - that should help to move the installation without having to reinstall and I also got that vm backed up. Probably I should make...
That will go away but even without an internet connection my collection looks a lot better in DVD Profiler than in an Excel sheet. And I never used the online collection function so I will not miss it.
But it is too early to think about that, the more likely case is that I will move to...
But the PC version of DVD Profiler will not go away - you can keep it as long as it runs on your computer.
It will always be possible to get the last installer and you can back up your database yourself so I would never go back to a spreadsheet before Profiler 4.0 stops working on one of my...
You got to wonder if they ever thought about selling the business.
For me the Windows program is still by far the best movie cataloguing software out there.
With a few more categories one could accommodate all kinds of media and streaming services and from there on what we would need most would...
If DVD Profiler is not needed away from home then it would be possible to set aside an old ipad or iphone to run the DVD Profiler app.
I have it running on an ipad that I do not really have to update so I can sit back and wait until DVD Profiler hopefully returns.
DVD Profiler is a true enthusiast product, the others offer more glitz but less substance.
Edit: That goes for the Windows version only, the apps are inferior imo and the reason I looked for alternatives.
I have looked for alternatives to DVD Profiler for the last 10 years as their iOS and android apps are so inferior to the windows desktop version that it is a joke and that and a lack of updates seems to lead to a shrinking user community. I have a rather varied collection with lots of different...
I would mainly like android and iOS versions that show a lot more info - the desktop version of DVDprofiler is extremely sophisticated and configurable yet the tablet based versions are extremely primitive and make no proper use of bigger screen - they are all designed for 4" iphones it seems...
