Perhaps. But apparently with some of the negativity being
expressed across the net with what people perceive as being
inferior product, Warner is willing to put their money where their
mouth is.
The studios are closed this entire week so it would
have been impossible to follow-up with past conversations
about disc pressing issues.
However, what I did do was go back to notes I took months
ago the last time I talked with Warner Brothers and indeed,
I was mistaken about the...
Paul,
Thanks for providing that information.
Uhm, well...I can't dispute what is stated on the Warner site.
I will have to bring this up in future conversation with the
studio and find out where the misunderstanding was in our
conversation about the difference between MOD...
Paul,
Where has that fact been established?
I am not criticizing your point, but I want to get to
the core of where this information is coming from
when I have the studio vehemently telling me that
these are the same pressed discs of retail releases.
Thanks
Richard,
From the moment the Archive program began, the Internet
became filled with accusations that the studio was using low-grade
DVD-R discs in pressing their MOD releases.
I have had more than one conversation with the studio who
has assured me that the same discs being...
Can I ask a question here?
Why are some of you still insisting that low-brand DVDR
discs are being used for these MOD titles?
I have talked about this ad nausea with Warner directly
and I have been assured that the same discs that are used
for their commercial releases are being used...
Allow me to step in and clarify....
A year ago we had a problem with a member who
went on a rash of posts attacking the Warner Archive
program making very personal comments.
Based on past history, members noticed that there
might be an agenda with this individual's very...
If that's the case I think we should stop it altogether now.
Let's remain respectful to each other's opinions and express
those opinions without belittling.
Jeff,
Let's try the two thread format for a while.
Reason being, I have received similar feedback from the
studio side that perhaps it would be better for the news
and complaints to be separated for the sake of being able
to keep things in better perspective. In other words, the
news...
Happy to assist you guys.
I have created a new Warner Archives announcement and
discussion topic here.
Let me know if you need the title or description edited to
something that would suit you better.
Frank,
I think Tony was just making a friendly suggestion on better
formatting your posts to convey your ideas.
Now that the suggestion was made, let's leave it at that. Frank,
you are welcome to post in any manner that you wish. Let's
try and be respectful to each other.
I posted something about this release a few pages back.
It looks...uhm....okay.
Looks extremely dated, has a lot of noise in the picture.
No major restoration of any kind was done to this film but
that's the reason why it was releases in the Archive collection
I suppose.
The fact that it is...
I had to remove Ray's post and will continue to do so until
the request I posted above (#2659) is respected. That goes
for everyone (not to just pick on Ray).
Anyone who continues to talk about bootlegs, making bootlegs
or any similar discussion will find their posts removed and
eventually their account.
We shouldn't have to warn people when its clearly in our forum
guidelines and has been for years.
Thanks
Finally received my copy of Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark.
Can’t believe after all these years I finally am holding a
copy in my hands.
That's the good news.
The bad news is that it doesn't look particularly good.
There is debris all over the film, the image is not very
sharp and there is a lot...
I am not speaking for Warner Brothers nor attempting to defend
them on these issues.
I can only offer you this....
We have a very good relationship with that studio. Perhaps the
best relationship of any studio. Reason being the people we
deal with are very devoted to the fans and the...
I stand corrected. When I preordered it two or more weeks
ago there was no artwork.
Wonder if the studio is thinking of releasing the title as a
regular DVD release. I think most all of us have indicated
that the film would achieve better exposure and sales being
released alongside the...
It appears that DON'T BE AFRAID OF THE DARK was
removed from the Warner Archive Site.
I would not worry about this. From what I understand it
was prematurely placed on the schedule (there was no
artwork attached) and I think the studio will probably put
it back up within a few months with...
Jon makes the perfect point here.
If not for this Archive Collection most all these titles would
never see the light of day.
The whole point of the program was to make titles available
that the studio knew would not sell well under general release.
So, make them available "on demand" where...
Montag,
I would like a second opinion on your post -- especially for the
fact you are a new member here (Welcome!) and you are slamming
Warner Brothers in your second post to this forum.
I haven't bought an archive title to date. "Don't Be Afraid of the Dark"
will be the first. However, I...
I need to step in this thread for a moment...
Over the past few hours someone posted a comment
regarding Don't Be Afraid of the Dark and the fact that
it has been available as a bootleg for many years and
that Warner is overcharging for something that has been
available for less on the...
Despite being a television production, Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark
is probably the scariest film I have ever seen -- or at least the one
horror film that has made the biggest impression upon me in my lifetime.
I think many people who grew up with this film will probably say the same.
ANNOUNCEMENT
A few weeks ago I teased all of you that Warner would be adding
a title to the archive that would make some of you go nuts.
I kept the information to myself until it was officially announced.
Well, I don't think this title has been officially announced, but it
is now up on the...
When Warner first discussed this program with
me they promised all films would be released in
their original aspect ratio.
Therefor I would bet that's a misprinted spec.
I am a little amazed myself.
The whole point of the Archive collection is to release material that
probably would not otherwise have seen the light of day.
What's really amazing about these offerings is that they aren't meant
nor designed to appeal to the masses. That is why they are...
I think too many of you are getting way off the mark about what
title I think will be of particular interest to forum members.
It's nothing on a grand scale. Nothing that should be released
as a standalone classic.
It's something that has been discussed on this forum on and off
for some...
I had the opportunity to sit down with Warner Brothers yesterday
at their Burbank office.
What I can tell all of you here is that Warner's future commitment
to the Archives Collection is only going to get stronger as they move
forward.
Without me being able to answer any specific...
