I thought the ending scene was masterfully done. If Gibson had filmed some extravagant ascension, I think it would have damaged the film. This scene was about unbridled hope, I felt like it said, "Now its up to you: embrace or reject what has been done for you, and live your life accordingly"
I saw it last night and I agree with this sentiment completely. In a powerful movie, one that I will be thinking about for a long, long time, this exchange stands out for me.
