This Alien Evolution documentary must be the one presented by Mark Kermode - he did similar ones on the Exorcist and The Shawshank Redemption. An excellent doc from what I recall. Interviews with most of those involved (Giger, Weaver, Scott, etc)

If true, this is great news about Alien 3, though I hope they include the theatrical version via seamless branching. If they are doing this for Aliens, and they want this release to be the definitive version, it would be a shame not to. Guess I'll hold on to my Alien Legacy just a little longer...

The R2 version did have the R1 mail order disc included in the set already, though I think this was a limited run, and it is not included anymore. Has there been any sort of suggestion from Fox that a director's cut of Alien 3 might be included because I just thought this was another rumour...
