ALIEN QUADRILOGY discussion thread (including all the glitches)

Differences are - no commentary on restored scenes, no subtitle markers for restored scenes and - given the packaging in R2 - we get a set that may be more convenient but is less interesting graphically. It looks like the R1 has a booklet too and I don't see where that'll fit on the R2 set...

Vincent - no, I don't understand it either (or why Fox would have done this) but www.r2-dvd.org has the press release and it states fairly specifically (for example) that for Alien 3 there's a "commentary on theatrical version by Terry Rawlings and crew". So I don't see why they would specify...

That is such a f*****g bummer ! That means I'll have to get the R1 set and probably get hit for an extra fifteen quid by customs. After getting shafted on the Studio Classics farrago, Fox are well and truly on my s***list.

Oscar - I'd be very careful about using SPLASH. Their prices are always enticing but delivery can be anything from a week to two months, be it new or old releases. Their customer service, in my experience, is absolutely terrible. I once sent four e-mails over a period of a fortnight and never...

OK, so I'm paranoid but . . If there's not enough room for the ALIEN LEGACY disc on the R1 release . . . and the Laserdisc suppplements are on the ninth disc . . but there IS enough room for ALIEN LEGACY on the R2 UK disc . . . does this suggest that the R2 version WON'T have the laserdisc...

I'll second Britton on that ! :emoji_thumbsup: If it wasn't a thread-fart to begin with, it sure as hell is now ! The Alien films may be entertainment but they're real movies with serious and interesting progressions on their own terms. Whatever you think of Anderson, the fact is that...

It just makes no sense to me that the Alien Legacy doc is missing from the R1 set due to "space limitations". How can that possibly be true if there's only a 64 minute doc and two trailers on the 9th disc ? As an R2-er, I'm used to getting shafted on extras and I smell a rat. Reasons of...

A little more info on the set, according to TOTAL FILM. Supposedly, Scott originally intended to put ALL of the deleted material back into the film but then reconsidered. He's now removed some of the new footage AND some of the original footage, so the new print is a hybrid of the two...

ALIEN QUADRILOGY discussion thread (including all the glitches)

The other thread's a bit crowded so I thought I'd start one for the specs as they're announced. Courtesy of www.r2-dvd.org, these featurettes for ALIENS have been submitted to the BBFC. Continuing the story (10.59) Casting and characterization (16.59) Weapons and action (15.12) A boy...
