I over spent my budget this month due to Kino sale, but in May, grabbing this because Sydney Greenstreet is the best Brit as Southerner since Laughton, in Advise and Consent.
I think he steals the whole picture.
I recently paid 230 dollars for mine. (30 dollars shipping and taxes and such) and have been enjoying them for the last few months, watch about six eps per month. But...if Kino offers up some great extras, as they did with Night Gallery, the extras were amazing...I gotta admit. I will..painful...
Also....had all of those... the Marx brothers were my favorites. Bought em all throuugh THE MOVIE BOOK CLUB. Twas as close as I thought I would ever get to owning movies. So glad I was wrong! But glad I had the Anobile library.
I was in a bad mood, had watched the 2004 dvd just months ago, and when I put in the blu ray was just prepared to be unimpressed. Had my glasses of, was lying down, and as soon as it began...Wow! Now this is a new film! And when Hyde first makes his moves on Ivy. Repellantly beautiful is all...
First time I "watched" March version of Jekyll/Hyde was in the Richard Anoble book, wherein he used still frames from the film to make a "comicbook" ,if you will, of the film. Back in the seventies I never thought I'd actually ever 'see the film" and the book was a cherished possesion to me...
ON DEADLY GROUND, mainly because of Billy Bob Thornton, who plays "one of the horde of bad guys."
BBT steals every little scene he is in. My favorite, he has a mini routine [about his machine gun]...
Very excited, getting second season of Night Gallery from Kino sometime tomorrow. Kino did a fantastic job with Season one. Season 2 has even more episodes. Also Kino did an amazing job with Outer Limits, which they are reissuing sometime in the future. Get 'em all. Great fantasy...
yes you are so right. And that is one of my favorite lines, and I remember being so ticked off as he said that. Its in the theatrical cut only and its such an important line. Finally the theatrical cut of LOTM is avail on blu ray, an import that I had to spend a few ducats on. I sometimes do...
I'm so glad this got mentoined. Was planning on getting Crit version. Since this has been edited. I'll opt for the older blu ray version. I hate after the fact edits. Thanks!
I am grateful for every morsel they give us. Was so surprised by the blus of FURY..ANGELS WITH DIRTY FACES...MAD LOVE. I'm living hand to mouth, just one year away from retirement, so pennies are limited. But I grab as many as I can while I can. I believe in FOMO. Fear of missing out. I...
Definite must have for me. Mitchell Ryan was one of the last great characters actors, from where back in Dark Shadows was where I first discovered him. He always delivered.
RBM has always been a great advocate for physical media and always does promote it. And very excited for the March Jekyll/Hyde. Love the Tracy version. This is reassuring for now. And glad George F got a better office. The guy deserves a palace.
Received the Kino upgraded remastered 4k Leone films yesterday. THANK YOU KINO for what you did for these epic films. Most especially FOR A FEW DOLLARS MORE. It has always been my favorite. And Kino went back and added all these little extra snippets that we fanatics love. Had a fantastic...
To state the obvious just to get it out of my system....
I share your trepidation considering that the new boss of the newly purchased Warners is referred to, by (some) giggling YouTube pundits as “The Ax of Zaslov”.
These pundits ( some of them) giggle with glee and admiration because it is a...
thanks for putting this here, listening between classes during lunch, great listen and sadly I gotta make some more purchases this month, and skip lunch more often
I loved season 1. had not seen those episodes in that kind of condition since they first aired. Pristine presentation. It will be a happy July for me when I get season 2. Thank you.
Radiola made alot of the records where I think I first heard the Fields/Bergen recordings, and then there was a company called Mar-Bren that custom made cassette recordings of classic radio shows. It was ten dollars for one custom made sixty second tape. You picked the shows you wanted out of...
Would love to see that happen. All that exists now are clearly pirated versions.
One guy told me it was "public domain" which always means bad dupe.
Hope someone finds this orphan and gives it a new birth!
I've actually always loved this great early Siegel picture. And though I think Rooney's performance owes more then a bit to Cagney as Cody Jarret I remember it as a very strong picture. Having said that I've only seen it as a bad vhs/tv rip. Its never been on either a true vhs or dvd release...
very simple, very insightful, very true, and if I were still teaching "mass media", remember when that was a real class? I'd use that thesis as the basis for the class.
thank you, and for all you guys do, will be making a big purchase after the 1st, payday you know. And Touch of Evil...magnificent work, just magnificent. Never really saw it till I saw what Kino did with it. Watched all 3 cuts this weekend.
