Town Without Pity would be a dream come true. Great performances all-around. Kirk Douglas, Robert Blake, E.G. Marshall, Richard Jaeckel, plus a score by Dimitri Tiomkin! Great European location shooting and a Gene Pitney Academy Award nomination to boot!
Saw this in the theater and thoroughly enjoyed its light-heartedness. Natalie Wood was/is a knockout in a very funny role. Valerie Harper knocks it out of the park as well! All in all, a good, breezy film that is finally seeing its blu-ray release! Can't wait to retire my DVD!
In that same vein, how about "Deadly Relations" with Robert Urich, Gwyneth Paltrow, Shelley Fabares and a young Matthew Perry?! Or, "Firehouse" from 1973 with Richard Roundtree and Vince Edwards? ;)
Agree about Truffaut, but while we're at it how about a comprehensive Blu Ray Elia Kazan collection, which would include both A Face In The Crowd (1957) and A Tree Grows In Brooklyn (1945)?
Or, a collection of Istvan Szabo, which would include the signature Brandauer Trilogy - Mephisto (1981)...
Awesome sauce...this movie rivals The Duchess & The Dirtwater Fox for its irreverence. Please don't touch me plums !!!
Any chance of seeing Duchess on Blu Ray?
Can't wait for this to drop. Been on my Blu Ray wish list for a long time! Love the chemistry between Curtis and the always reliable Lancaster.
Thank you Kino Lorber !!!
@ KL Insider - many thanks for issuing Lifeboat on Blu Ray. I love this movie, and the performances are spot-on, esp. Bankhead and Bendix. I look forward to many more cherished releases from KL. (Thanks too, for The Reincarnation Of Peter Proud.)
Kino Lorber must be in training with the release of two "running-themed" movies!
How about a basketball movie, Inside Moves (1980) - Savage, Morse, Scarwid & the late, great Harold Russell? :D
Now, this just made my whole day/week/month/year! I remember watching this movie on TV and being captivated by the storyline and the talented actors appearing in the film...Strauss, Dennehy, Geoffrey Lewis, Lauter and one of my personal faves, Billy "Green" Bush.
I recently watched this movie...
Love the Panther, purchased Season 1 Blu Ray along with the KL Boxset that includes The Inspector, Roland and Ratfink, The Ant and The Aardvark and the Tijuana Toads. Am ecstatic that Misterjaw is finally coming to Blu Ray...y'Gotcha !!
Thank you Worth, for the reply. Yes, I've had it on my radar but it is Region B and apparently, as you've said, only has German subtitles.
Ich spreche ein bisschen Deutsch, aber nicht genug um einen ganzen Film auf Deutsch anzusehen!
I agree and thank you. I wish one of the major players, Criterion, Kino Lorber or Twilight Time would release at least Colonel Redl, which is my personal fave, but to release the trilogy would be "blu-ray reissue nirvana"! Keeping my fingers crossed!
Thx moviepas...I've had it - the Australian version - saved in my Amazon wishlist for a long time and yes, it is Region B, so hoping for a Region A or Region-free release. :)
Blu-Ray Wish List -- what are the chances KL? :D
The Great Waldo Pepper (Redford, Svenson, Lewis)
The Bad News Bears (1976) (Matthau, O'Neal)
The Pride Of The Yankees (Cooper, Wright)
Paper Moon (O'Neal x2)
Mephisto (Brandauer)
Colonel Redl (Brandauer)
Hanussen (Brandauer)
Criss Cross...
Ordered all four March titles on 03-19-18 and will have soon. Heck of a job Twilight Time! Looking forward to all four April releases as well! However, May looks like I'll be saving some $$$
