A Few Words About A few words about...™ The Wizard of Oz 3D -- in Blu-ray

You're right. But the new 2D disc does indeed have the same missing frames when Glinda leaves the Munchkin city. And people who have seen the 3D in theater and on Blu-ray say that was fixed for the new restoration. So yeah, it contains the same flaws as the 2009 release---which is all that...

A Few Words About A few words about...™ The Wizard of Oz 3D -- in Blu-ray

Warning the 2D release DOES NOT contain the deleted scenes section that the previous single disc edition did! NOR does it contain the new upgraded/corrected restoration---it STILL contains the glitch when Glinda leaves munchkinland and it is in fact despite what some reviews say----the old VC-1...

A Few Words About A few words about...™ The Wizard of Oz 3D -- in Blu-ray

And if you don't mind could you comment on whether the sound mix is exactly the same for the new 3D/2D Blu-ray as it was for the 2009 Blu-ray release. We've been hearing a lot of rumors. Thank you!

"....new surround mix...."------------so you are saying they redid the 5.1 sound and it is different than the one used in the 2009 release. I know the codec is now DTS-MA, but I was under the impression it was the exact same sound mix. Do you know this for sure or might it have just seemed...

Star Trek films on Blu-Ray... what we know so far

Also they just repackaged the first 10 movies in a new set---which they wouldn't have done if they were going to do something special for 2014.

That would be a dream come true---as opposed to the nightmare that is the movie branch of Paramount

Star Trek films on Blu-Ray... what we know so far

Ah, I see you weren't able to pick up the recent TOS season 1-3 combined box set which they were selling for the insane price of less than $85 a while back! The Original series Blu-rays are one of my prized possessions and I never go a week without watching at least one episode. Hi-def digest...

Star Trek films on Blu-Ray... what we know so far

Could we turn this thread back to the subject of the Trek movie Blu-rays and not take this moronic debate between haters and lovers any further? A guy asks a simple question and some nuts decide to prepare a document on why the movie is bad? That's some petty obsessive non-sense to be pulling...

Star Trek films on Blu-Ray... what we know so far

I love both the old and new movies, but on the subject of the Blu-rays............. Has it been established that no version, in any country contains deleted scenes? And is it known if any substantial deleted scenes exist for STID. There was the Harrison shower scene and a brief scene where...

Star Trek films on Blu-Ray... what we know so far

The two movies are from the same universe that diverged 25 or so years before the events of Star trek Into Darkness---so no there is no sort of continuation. The whole point of diverging the Trek universe at that particular point in the first movie was so they could show the familiar characters...

A Few Words About A few words about...™ The Wizard of Oz 3D -- in Blu-ray

Exactly, if they use the old True HD---then for sure it is old sound mix, but if it is DTS-MA then there is the possibility of a new sound mix--which is what I was hoping for.

A Few Words About A few words about...™ The Wizard of Oz 3D -- in Blu-ray

Okay, thanks that's great on the audio, but by saying it's the same video transfer you are in effect saying it's NOT the same new transfer they used for the 3D version---which corrects a couple of problems from the 2009 release. These problems are scratches in the opening credits and a...

A Few Words About A few words about...™ The Wizard of Oz 3D -- in Blu-ray

Do you know this for sure? Because there have been disturbing rumors the 2D version is the old transfer with the old TrueHD !! I sure hope you are right!!

Well today the original set hit it's lowest price ever at Amazon $29.99. And once again I hope that signals that perhaps they are clearing inventory for a future upgraded release.

Star Trek films on Blu-Ray... what we know so far

Sorry, I wasn't more clear, in the last 1 or 2 years during an interview Shatner was asked about revisiting Trek 5 and that was when he blew off the idea. So it wasn't Paramount that asked him. He sounded like he was still bitter about the 2002 pitch he made to them. If they formally asked him...

Star Trek films on Blu-Ray... what we know so far

Shatner asked Paramount if he could do a Directer's cut of Trek 5 in 2002 with a modest budget for new FX---they said no. He then asked for a TINY budget to simply recut the movie---they said no. He was asked in the last 1 or 2 years if he would be interested in doing a Director's cut and he...

Star Trek films on Blu-Ray... what we know so far

It's absurd this movie is being talked about as some kind of flop. 12 days in--it is just slightly ahead of the 2009 release. It is way ahead of the previous one in the international box office and it still hasn't opened in several large markets including China, France, Korea and Italy. This...

No sorry, I agree that there is room for improvement in the picture qualtiy, but these are not horrible and $33 for a movie 6 pack---is a bargin.

Star Trek films on Blu-Ray... what we know so far

Wow, now the box set is $33 from Amazon. If they choose never to release the extended versions in a set it seems they will have to repress the older set again. I mean how many of the sets from 2009 can still be floating around with bargin prices like this for weeks on end?

Star Trek films on Blu-Ray... what we know so far

6 weeks later and it's on sale again for $36. I don't know if we'll ever get a more complete release but they pretty well won't have too much old stock on hand.

Star Trek films on Blu-Ray... what we know so far

Amazon is currently blowing out the 6 original movie set at $34.99---if only that were because they have been tipped that a new set is coming soon!!
