That's amazing how fast TC did their taping! I'm impressed. I'm also impressed the Bob Newhart and Betty White shows would tape as fast as they did. Years ago I went to a taping of That 70s Show. It went from like 4 or 5pm to about 10:30 or 11pm. Too long. This past January I went to a taping of...
Pluto TV has def. done this. They have drastically improved the visual quality of All In The Family. It is streaming on Pluto TV Classic Families channel and the episodes look excellent upon direct comparison to the dvds which were put out years ago.
Good question. I don't have that first set that was put out, sorry. But most of the episodes on the TL set are indeed uncut with running times of 50-51 minutes.
Thank you for such an informative and helpful answer. I really appreciate it. Helps me learn about technology more. It's too bad, for the purpose of ownership, that the quality can't improved for physical media. But streaming is awesome.
All In The Family is currently streaming on Pluto TV Classic Families channel. Upon direct comparison to the dvds, which I already have, I've noticed the streaming episodes are far superior in visual quality. Much more defined and clear picture and colors. Can anyone explain why/how this is...
I paid $100 for the Time Life set of The Best Of Flip Wilson Show mainly for just ONE sketch that I've waited to see forever and that I never thought would see a home video release.
I ordered the set right away and have watched several episodes. From what I've seen so far there is very little edited out. Eps with Jackson 5, Sammy Davis Jr and Gladys Knight and the Pips have all music intact. And of course all of the comedy sketches are included.
I received my pre-ordered copy today. It is sensational. Beautiful picture. For all the bashing it's taken over the years it's not as bad as you think.
Last week I pre-ordered mine and now Amazon shows there are no more available. What happened? Did they only make 10 of them? How can they be sold out after two days?? I wonder if they will make more....
I just bought this movie. I really liked it. Like you said it is almost uncomfortable at times but great suspense and no gore. I thought the acting was superb by all of them. One note- the movie was filmed in Duluth Minnesota at the Glensheen Mansion. And yes, it is still there. It now operates...
I couldn't agree with you guys more. TL putting out the original cast SNL is a huge waste of time. It's already out there. It's just like when they did a Lucy set with I Love Lucy and The Lucy Show. BIG waste for them. There's so many other shows they could focus on. 2020 was the 50th...
That photo is from the 1984 Emmy Awards. Lily/Ernestine was nominated for her performance on the special "Live, And In Person" on NBC. She didn't win. But she went to the Emmy ceremony as Ernestine and stayed in character the whole night! I have the tape/dvd of that show. A long time ago Lily...
Oh I bet Lily did have that in her contract! Today it's a given the venue will be smoke free, but back in the seventies...not so. Thanks for the info you remembered.
A long time ago on Ebay I acquired some b/w concert photos taken of Lily in concert in either 1974 or 1975. It looked to be...
Martin-tell me about the concert of Lily's you saw in the seventies!! I would loved to have seen one. But alas, I was too young.
I love that character she did in episode 18. It was great. Lily could have been the only cast member on Laugh In and I would've been fine.
You are so right TJPC. The "caked" bit is pure gold. Lud and Marie meet Dracula's daughter was the title given for the track on the album. One to the most brilliant bits Lily ever did.
I think in some ways Lily Tomlin was a little ahead of her time. On Modern Scream she used many sound effects...
I have no idea who Tom Williams is LOL. I have noticed some mistakes in the booklet too. But the important thing is that they included and have all of the correct original air dates.
As for Tomlin, as a long time hard core Lily Tomlin fan it has always been a pet peeve of mine when people...
Thanks for the input MartinP. I appreciate it. I have no idea why Chelsea Brown left. She was so pretty. I know LI had many comings and goings of cast members, it just seems like Nancie was only in half of season 4. I guess we'll never know. I saw she has passed.
Does anybody have any idea why Nancie Phillips dropped out of LI halfway through the fourth season? After about episode 18 she is not credited. Ann Elder seems to take her place. I'm just curious.

I'm not holding my breath either. But like S & C if they DID release Flip I'm sure it would just be music that would be cut. I'd still like to see all the comedy sketches and guest stars.
I would absolutely love to see a complete series of The Flip Wilson Show. The show being dated argument doesn't mean much because look at the Carol Burnett and other variety show releases; Dean Martin, Laugh In, Sonny and Cher, to name just a few. I think music clearances would be the biggest...
That is absolutely correct. I have all four of Lily Tomlin's specials from 1973-75 ( from an EXCELLENT source ) they are complete and uncut and they all run 50-52 minutes.
I guess
Dinah Shore in season 4 is introduced and walks past the piano and out the stage door to outside and gets on a motorcycle thing. I know there's an episode where she does that. But the slow/speed up thing is done on purpose, so that may not be what you're talking about.
